This is the 2020 Gérald Genta Arena Bi-Retrograde Sport, reference 103448—not an earlier Arena Bi-Retrograde anniversary or character edition. The model revives the distinctive “Biretro” arrangement in a sporty-looking combination of brushed titanium, an anthracite-to-black dial and yellow details. Fratello’s 2020 review and Hodinkee’s 2020 introduction identify the reference and its core design.
The visual effect is more instrument-like than conventional: the yellow-on-dark palette recalls a sports-car gauge, as Hodinkee observes, while the retrograde scales make the dial’s motion part of the watch’s character. Watch Affinity’s reviewer describes layered, grained and vertically brushed dial surfaces, noting that these details stood out more in person; that is a reviewer’s impression, not a universal assessment.
How the bi-retrograde display works
“Bi-retrograde” refers to the two hands that travel along separate scales and then return to the beginning of their arcs. The hour is shown separately in a window at 12 o’clock.

The practical trade-off is clear: the display is mechanically expressive, but reading the time is less familiar than reading a standard central hour-and-minute hand arrangement. If you prefer conventional glance-reading, try the layout in person before buying.
BVL 300 movement
The watch publications identify the movement as Bulgari caliber BVL 300. It is automatic, with jumping hours and retrograde minutes and date; Fratello reports a 42-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (vph). These published specifications describe the movement, but do not establish a particular accuracy result, service interval or service-life expectation.

Design lineage
Hodinkee describes the 2020 Sport as a revival of the Biretro layout and reports that Gérald Genta first combined retrograde minutes with a jumping-hour counter in 1996. The publication also reports that Bulgari acquired the Gérald Genta firm and associated designs, patents and trademarks in 2000. This context helps explain why the watch is more than a new dial treatment: its identity rests on a display concept associated with Genta’s design history.
Does the 43 mm case wear comfortably?
Diameter alone cannot predict fit. Fratello’s reviewer felt the watch wore smaller than its 43 mm measurement suggests, while a Watch Affinity reviewer reported comfortable wear on a 17 cm wrist. Those are individual impressions, not a guarantee for another wrist; case shape, strap fit and personal preference matter. If possible, try the watch on, paying attention to how the case sits across your wrist and whether the display is easy to read at your usual viewing angle.
