How does Germain Baillot’s concept watch tell time?

The sources do not explain whether selecting a city changes the displayed hour, how the zones are mechanically coordinated, or how the design would perform during travel. It is safest to understand this as a proposed display and setting arrangement, not a verified world-time mechanism.

How are the rollers and crowns adjusted?
Tuvie reproduces a designer-attributed description saying the crowns at each end unscrew for hour/minute and GMT adjustment. That suggests separate access for setting the outer time display and the central zone selection, but the published material does not provide a complete operating sequence or technical movement diagram. It would be speculative to infer the internal gearing or exact setting procedure from the renderings alone.
Is the Germain Baillot Concept Watch available to buy?
The reviewed coverage still describes the design as a concept: Luxatic called it a concept in an article updated February 3, 2021. The cited material does not establish a production launch, retail availability, price, or a commercially offered replica or kit. Treat images and animations as visualizations of a design, not evidence of a finished watch that can be ordered. Luxatic’s coverage describes the form as massive and questions its portability; that is an editorial impression, not a measured fit or wearability assessment.

What is the design inspired by?
Baillot’s portfolio identifies aeronautics as the inspiration. The turbine-inspired crown and cylindrical, instrument-like display give the concept that visual direction. The sources do not identify a specific aircraft or claim that the design adapts a real cockpit instrument.

The project description credits Autodesk Alias for modeling, KeyShot for rendering and animation, and After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop for post-production. The combination is relevant to the watch’s presentation: animation can show the rollers and central zone cylinder as a working visual idea, even though it does not demonstrate a built mechanism. Baillot’s portfolio profile describes him as a senior designer and 3D artist and lists roles at Roger Dubuis and Jacob & Co.; those are portfolio-profile claims, not independently verified employment history.
