The blue-dial stainless-steel Glashütte Original PanoReserve, reference 1-65-01-26-12-71, pairs a 40 mm case with a hand-wound movement, a large Panorama Date and a 42-hour stated power reserve. This is a specification-led review, not a hands-on account: I have not worn or handled this exact reference. The manufacturer does not publish a numeric current price on its product page, so buyers should request a quote for their market and clasp configuration.

What the dial layout does—and who may like it
The PanoReserve uses an intentionally asymmetric arrangement rather than a conventional centered time display. Hours and minutes sit off-center; the small seconds, large Panorama Date and power-reserve indicator occupy separate areas of the dial. That gives the watch several useful indications at a glance, but it also makes visual balance a matter of taste. If you prefer a centered, restrained dial, the layout may feel busy; if you enjoy distinct display elements, its organization is the point.
The blue reference combines a fine-matte coated surface and silver indexes with white-gold hands that have Super-LumiNova inlays. Its Panorama Date uses white numerals against a blue ground. Those are maker-listed design details; they do not establish how legible the watch will feel in every lighting condition.

Calibre 65-01: manual winding and visible finishing
Calibre 65-01 is hand-wound, so the owner must wind the watch rather than rely on wrist motion to keep it running. Glashütte Original specifies a 42-hour reserve with a ±5% tolerance and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The power-reserve display gives the wearer an indication of the remaining run time. Whether daily winding is appealing or inconvenient depends on your routine and whether you rotate watches.
Through the sapphire caseback, the manufacturer describes a Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish, a hand-engraved balance bridge and second cock, duplex swan-neck fine adjustment, bevelled edges, polished steel parts, screw-mounted gold chatons and blued screws. These are the maker’s stated construction and finishing features; this review does not claim an independent examination of the movement.
Blue or silver: the steel-dial difference
The official silver-dial steel variant, reference 1-65-01-22-12-71, shares the blue model’s listed 40 mm case, 11.70 mm height, 5 bar rating and manual Calibre 65-01 with a stated 42-hour reserve and 4 Hz frequency. The main documented distinction is the dial and date treatment:

The 40 mm diameter and 11.70 mm height offer a useful starting point when judging scale, but they cannot predict comfort on a particular wrist. Wrist shape, strap, clasp and personal preference all matter. Since this is not a firsthand wear review, it would be misleading to call the watch comfortable or uncomfortable from those numbers alone; try the exact configuration if fit is decisive.
The steel model is listed at 5 bar water resistance. That is a published specification, not a personal swimming test or a guarantee for a particular water activity. Consult the manufacturer’s guidance for the intended use rather than inferring activity suitability from the rating alone.

Price and how to get a current quote
Glashütte Original’s product page does not show a numeric current price for the blue steel reference. It says the price may vary according to the fastening—pin buckle or folding clasp—and directs customers to the brand or a nearby point of sale. Ask for a quote for reference 1-65-01-26-12-71 in your country, specifying the clasp, and verify the exact configuration before comparing it with the silver model. Historical catalog figures, auction estimates, used listings or prices for other case materials would not establish today’s price for this watch.
A Bucherer US listing surfaced for a related steel PanoReserve, but it does not establish the price or availability of this exact reference. Check the listing itself and confirm the reference, seller, configuration and current stock before treating it as an offer for the blue model.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWho should consider the PanoReserve?
- It may suit you if you value an asymmetric display, a large date, a power-reserve indication and the involvement of winding a watch by hand.
- Think carefully if you prefer automatic winding, a conventional centered dial, or a fit you can judge without trying the watch on.
- Before buying, confirm the exact reference, clasp, strap, localized price and the manufacturer’s guidance for your intended water use.
A separate video review published on 2026-08-14 by The 1916 Company Watch Reviews concerns a rose-gold 39 mm PanoReserve, not this 40 mm steel reference. Its observations should not be treated as hands-on evidence for the blue model.
