The Glashütte Original SeaQ Chronograph pairs a 300-metre-rated dive-watch case with an automatic, column-wheel flyback chronograph and the brand’s Panorama Date. The reference shown on the manufacturer’s current page, 1-37-23-02-81-36, measures 43.20 mm across and 16.95 mm high, so it is a substantial watch rather than a compact diver. Its current listed price is available upon request; prices reported at launch in 2022 are historical, not current quotes.
Which SeaQ Chronograph is this?
This review concerns the SeaQ Chronograph, not the smaller three-hand SeaQ or the SeaQ Panorama Date. The manufacturer’s current product page features reference 1-37-23-02-81-36, with a blue sunray-finished dial and blue synthetic fabric strap. Glashütte Original lists black rubber, stainless-steel bracelet, and grey or blue synthetic fabric as configuration options. Strap, bracelet, clasp, and caseback choices can differ, so a price or visual impression should not be assumed to apply to every version.
Monochrome Watches’ hands-on review and video is launch-era coverage of the Chronograph. Time and Watches’ review, published October 21, 2022, likewise records that publication’s experience after spending a few days with the watch. Their observations are the reviewers’ own; they are not a claim of personal handling here.
Case size, dial, and dive-watch construction
Large, thick proportions
For reference 1-37-23-02-81-36, Glashütte Original specifies a 43.20 mm case diameter and 16.95 mm case height. Those dimensions are useful fit checks: the diameter is broad, while the height is especially relevant beneath a shirt cuff and on a smaller wrist. Wrist comfort cannot be inferred from the figures alone; strap or bracelet, wrist shape, and individual preference all matter.

Legibility and bezel
The manufacturer describes a blue sunray dial with luminous applied markers and a rotating bezel with a scratch-resistant ceramic inlay. The screw-down crown and unidirectional bezel are familiar practical elements for a dive-watch layout, while the chronograph adds elapsed-time measurement beyond the bezel’s timing function.
Water resistance and standards
Glashütte Original lists 30 bar (300 m) water resistance and a stainless-steel case. It states: “Like all SeaQ models, it is tested according to the strict ISO 6425 and DIN 8306 standards.” That is the manufacturer’s statement; independent certification documentation is not established here. Water-resistance ratings are not a substitute for checking the condition of a particular watch’s seals and crown before water use.

Calibre 37-23: chronograph, flyback, and date
The SeaQ Chronograph uses automatic calibre 37-23. Glashütte Original specifies a column-wheel chronograph with flyback, stop-second function, small seconds, a 30-minute counter, and Panorama Date. A flyback function lets the user reset and restart the chronograph in one operation, rather than stopping, resetting, and starting it in separate steps. The manufacturer gives a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a power reserve of 70 hours ± 5%; these are specifications, not independent timing or reserve test results.
The brand also describes a silicon balance spring and a Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish. Its movement description lists a skeletonised rotor bearing the double-G symbol and a 21-carat gold oscillation weight, along with polished steel parts, bevelled and polished edges, and polished, blued screws. These details are manufacturer-described construction and finishing, not a substitute for examining a specific watch.

Caseback and configuration choices
The official product page lists both a stainless-steel caseback and an optional sapphire-crystal caseback at additional charge. The sapphire version makes the movement visible; the solid steel back does not provide that view. Confirm which caseback is fitted when comparing a particular reference or offer. The page also lists the strap and bracelet alternatives, and notes that clasp selection can affect price.
Price: current status and 2022 launch figures
Glashütte Original’s current product page says “Price available upon request” and notes that price may vary depending on whether the watch has a pin buckle or folding clasp. It does not establish a current regional retail price.

For historical context, Monochrome Watches reported launch-era prices of €14,100 for a strap configuration with pin buckle, with €300 extra for a folding clasp, and €15,300 for the steel-bracelet version. Time and Watches reported €14,100 with straps and €15,700 with a steel bracelet in its October 2022 review. These are dated reports, not current quotes, and the two publications’ bracelet figures differ; neither should be treated as a present-day price.

The model makes the most sense for someone seeking a substantial luxury dive watch that combines high stated water resistance with a mechanical flyback chronograph and a long stated power reserve. The trade-offs are equally concrete: its 43.20 mm diameter and 16.95 mm height demand wrist and cuff clearance, while the current price requires a direct inquiry and depends on configuration. Buyers choosing among versions should compare the exact reference, strap or bracelet, clasp, and caseback rather than relying on a generic SeaQ Chronograph description.
