The partnership brings together Glashütte Original’s mechanical watchmaking and MEISSEN’s porcelain and miniature painting. The 9 October 2025 Swatch Group announcement describes three limited-edition wristwatches with painted porcelain dials. It also cites 180 years of Glashütte watchmaking and 315 years of MEISSEN history; those figures are the group’s descriptions in its 2025 announcement, not independent assessments of either company’s history. How do the two documented Senator Meissen watches differ?
Both references have a 40 mm red-gold case and automatic Calibre 36-16. Their dial and strap colors distinguish the versions. Specifications below are taken from the respective white-dial product page and celadon-dial product page.

The water-resistance figure is listed for the white reference only; it should not be assumed for the celadon watch without a confirmed specification.
How is the MEISSEN porcelain dial made?
MEISSEN describes the dial as an ultra-thin porcelain disc first fired at 1,400°C. Fine brushes are then used to apply the decoration, Roman numerals and inscriptions by hand. According to the manufactory, decoration is built up color by color, with a 900°C firing after each color layer. Glashütte Original’s celadon product page also says the porcelain disc is fired at 1,400°C and inspected for quality and a perfectly flat surface. The watch displays hours and minutes, keeping the dial’s painted ornament in focus. MEISSEN says that restrained layout also allows an elegant, slim profile with the flat in-house movement.
What movement details are documented?
Swatch Group describes Calibre 36 as having bidirectional automatic winding and a 100-hour running time. It also lists a silicon balance spring intended to resist magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, plus a stop-seconds function. These are manufacturer statements, not results from an independent test.

The group’s announcement additionally describes a sapphire caseback, Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finishing, hand-engraved balance cock, skeletonized rotor with a 21-carat gold oscillating weight, and hand-finished details. The announcement discusses Calibre 36; the product pages identify the watches’ specific movement as Calibre 36-16.
