Rodger Corser’s Bremont is the U-2/51-JET, a black 43 mm pilot-style watch he wore for a week during the period of his 2019 Gold Logie nomination. In a 3 July 2019 interview with Time+Tide founder Andrew McUtchen, Corser praised its legibility, lume and dark finish, while noting that its short lugs and crown placement helped a large watch sit comfortably on his wrist. Bremont now lists the model as retired, so the interview describes the watch as Corser experienced it then—not a current availability report.
What watch did Rodger Corser wear?
Corser wore the Bremont U-2/51-JET, the subject of Time+Tide’s “MY WEEK WITH” interview and review published on 3 July 2019. The story coincided with his Gold Logie nomination; Now To Love reported on 25 June 2019 that it was his third consecutive nomination. The watch comments below are Corser’s own impressions from that week, not independent testing by this article’s author.
Asked what mattered to him in a watch, Corser said: “I love a watch that is legible and I can read it in any conditions.” He felt the U-2/51-JET delivered that clarity, and especially liked how its black finish kept the design understated despite its size.
What Corser liked about the U-2/51-JET
Legibility and lume
Corser singled out the watch’s legibility and luminous treatment. He also liked the red triangle on the seconds hand, which adds a small flash of color against the dark dial. These are personal aesthetic and usability judgments, rather than a claim that the watch has been tested in every lighting condition.

A large watch that felt comfortable
At 43 mm across, the U-2/51-JET has a substantial case. Corser said it looked better in person than in photographs and that the relatively short lugs helped it feel less oversized on his wrist. He also appreciated the two-crown layout: with crowns positioned at 2 and 4 o’clock, he found they dug into his hand less than crowns on some other watches he had worn.
Versatile strap, with a caveat
Corser liked the strap’s versatility and saw the watch as a possible one-watch choice on a black bracelet. “It’s a definite contender for the ‘one watch’ category if you had it on the black bracelet,” he told McUtchen. That was a preference, not a claim that the watch came with a bracelet in every configuration.

The design story Bremont gives for the black finish
Bremont says the U-2/51-JET’s black “Jet” case and middle-barrel color draw on a project commissioned by members of RAF 100 Squadron to complement Hawk T1 aircraft. The brand also says the squadron was formed for night bombing in 1917. This is Bremont’s account of the design inspiration, not an independently established history in the interview.

What Corser would change
For all his enthusiasm, Corser had two specific design suggestions: he would prefer a no-date version, and would make the internal bezel numerals and red triangle slightly larger. His date preference is personal; the listed U-2/51-JET specification includes a date display.
He also remarked on the practical context of wearing a watch while filming: “On the show I might take it off if I’m in the operating theatre.” It is a situational note about his work, not a statement about the watch’s suitability for medical environments.

Is the Bremont U-2/51-JET still available?
Bremont’s Australian product page says the model “has officially retired from the Bremont catalogue” and labels it “No Longer Available.” The page displays AUD $8,000 as a regular price, but that is a page-listed amount—not evidence of current stock or a current transaction price. The cited sources establish no current resale value or retailer availability.
For Corser, the watch’s appeal came from the combination of a dark, restrained look, clear dial, comfortable-on-his-wrist proportions and adaptable strap. His interview captures one wearer’s experience in 2019; Bremont’s published specifications and retired-status notice provide the current product-page context.
