After a week with the Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36, photographer Kristoffer Paulsen liked its understated look and found himself getting used to wearing it. The fabric strap was his main adjustment: in retrospect, he said he would have chosen leather or a metal bracelet. Those are personal impressions from a 2016 feature, not a controlled test or a guide to current prices.

Paulsen’s first response was that the watch’s understated appearance resonated with him. He described it as simple and purposeful, and said putting it on made him feel smarter. Which strap would he choose?
Looking back, Paulsen said, “I’d get it on a leather strap or a metal bracelet.” The 2016 feature printed Australian prices of A$3,400 on bracelet and A$3,000 on leather. These are historical figures from the article, not current prices or a present-day valuation. It does not provide a price for a fabric-strap configuration or compare the options for comfort, durability or current cost.

What did he think of the fit on another wrist?
Paulsen said his wife, Kersty, also liked the watch. He thought its smaller size looked good on her wrist and said it sat better on her than on his own “weirdly shaped skinny-boy wrist.” That is a personal observation about two people, not a general sizing recommendation.
Did a week with it change his mind about wearing a watch?
Paulsen said that by the end of the week he was seriously considering getting a watch. He linked that reaction to memories of his grandfather’s automatic watch and the idea that a watch can gather its own history. The review captures that personal response; it does not assess the Black Bay 36’s technical performance or establish a broader verdict about the model.
