Breguet’s Classique Souscription 2025 won the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix at the 25th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), held in Geneva on 13 November 2025. The ceremony rewarded 19 watch creations from 90 nominated timepieces. The result put Breguet at the center of the night, while the full list spread awards across established maisons, independent watchmakers and unusual horological creations.
What happened at the GPHG 2025 awards?
The GPHG announced its 2025 winners at a ceremony in Geneva on 13 November. The official release lists 19 winning creations, alongside a Special Jury Prize. It also identifies the event as the awards’ 25th edition. The official GPHG announcement is the primary record of the results.
The awards cover distinct areas of watchmaking, from chronometry and complications to sports watches, jewellery and artistic crafts. That range makes the prize list more useful as a survey of the participating field than as a single ranking of every watch released during the year.

The official release also names Alain Dominique Perrin, president of Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, as recipient of the Special Jury Prize. Fratello’s retrospective additionally names Edouard Le as recipient of the Best Young Student Prize. These person-focused distinctions are separate from the 19 winning creations. Fratello’s 15 November retrospective includes the broader list and commentary.
Why was Breguet the big story?
The Classique Souscription 2025 received the night’s top award. Its win came during Breguet’s 250th-anniversary year, which Fratello’s Lex Stolk treated as an important part of the result’s context and as an opportunity to draw attention to the maison. That is the columnist’s interpretation, not an official explanation of the jury’s decision.

Wallpaper* describes the watch as a wristwatch-form reproduction of a 1796 pocket-watch design by Abraham-Louis Breguet. That offers historical and design context, but it should not be mistaken for a full technical specification or an official account of why the jury selected it. Wallpaper*’s report on the winners provides that description.
What did the results say about LVMH and other brands?
Fratello framed LVMH as a major winner, grouping several prize recipients with the luxury group. The official GPHG list, by contrast, records winners by brand and creation; it does not present a corporate-group tally. Fratello’s discussion itself gives inconsistent counts, referring to six awards in one passage and five in a later comparison with Richemont. It is therefore safer to describe the article’s overall assessment as a strong night for LVMH-associated names rather than repeat a precise total.

It also includes independent and less familiar names such as Anton Suhanov, Fam Al Hut and M.A.D. Editions. The list, rather than an unqualified conglomerate count, is the clearest way to see who won what.
What does a GPHG win establish—and what doesn’t it?
A win means a watch prevailed in its category among the GPHG’s participating and selected field. It is not a verdict covering every watch brand or model on the market. Hodinkee reported that Rolex and Patek Philippe were not in the 2025 program, while participation from the Swatch Group and most Richemont brands was limited. Hodinkee’s same-night report provides that participation context.

Stolk’s retrospective also questioned Breguet’s placement among the Iconic nominees and argued that the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar was the obvious Iconic winner. Those are editorial judgments; the official result is simply that the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar won the Iconic Watch Prize and the Breguet won the Aiguille d’Or.

The GPHG said the 90 nominated watches, including the 19 winners, were exhibited at Geneva’s Musée d’Art et d’Histoire through 16 November 2025. It scheduled the award-winning models for Dubai Watch Week from 19 to 23 November; the GPHG’s later news index described the Dubai exhibition as running through 23 November. These were 2025 events, not statements about current exhibition or retail availability. The GPHG news index carries its later event updates.

Hodinkee also reported that the ceremony marked the end of Nick Foulkes’s five-year term as jury president. His departure was part of the institutional aftermath, distinct from the prize results themselves.
