The Jack Mason Ellum Manual Wind is a 38 mm, slim-profile dress watch built around a hand-wound Sellita SW210 movement. Jack Mason lists a 42-hour power reserve, a 9 mm case thickness, a 45 mm lug-to-lug length and a $799 USD price. The brand showed the Sage version as out of stock when its product page was accessed on October 7, 2026, so check the listing for current availability.
What the Ellum Manual Wind is—and what it isn’t
This is a manually wound dress watch with a restrained, vintage-inspired design. Jack Mason describes its woven linen-texture dial and mid-century inspiration, and equips it with a sapphire crystal, an exhibition caseback and an Italian Epsom leather strap. Those details make the watch’s visual character and the winding ritual central to its appeal; it is not an automatic watch that winds itself while worn.
Specifications for the current Manual Wind should not be confused with those of earlier Ellum models. In an August 1, 2019 article, Jack Mason discussed the original Ellum design and listed a 40 mm quartz model using a Miyota 1L45 caliber. The brand’s historical account describes the collection’s design context, not the current Manual Wind’s specifications. Creative Director Peter Cho said the original concept was to reinterpret a watch popular in the mid-1900s for contemporary fashion. Jack Mason’s 2019 Ellum article.

How the dimensions translate to fit
A 38 mm diameter and 9 mm thickness give the Ellum the proportions of a slim dress watch on paper. Its 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement is also worth comparing with a watch you already find comfortable: diameter alone does not show how far the case reaches across the wrist. The thin case is intended to sit neatly under a shirt cuff, but fit depends on wrist shape, strap adjustment and cuff size; the dimensions cannot guarantee that it will suit every wearer.

- Stainless steel open face coin edged 52 millimeter case
- Beautiful ceramic and center milled two dimensional railroad inspired dial
- Accurate 17 jewel mechanical hand wind small seconds hand movement with classic blue cobalt hands
- Water resistant to 30 meters plus scratch resistant mineral crystal
- Includes deluxe stainless steel curb chain, lifetime warranty and gift box
The strap is 20 mm wide and uses quick-release hardware, so it can be changed without a tool if the replacement strap has compatible quick-release fittings. Confirm the attachment style as well as the width before buying an alternative.
What daily winding involves
The Sellita SW210 is a manual-wind movement, and Jack Mason lists its reserve as 42 hours. In practical terms, the owner will need to wind the watch regularly to keep it running; if it is left unwound beyond its reserve, it will stop and need to be reset. The exact winding frequency depends on how consistently the watch is kept wound. The product listing does not establish a separate winding procedure or a measured runtime for an individual watch.

How to read the accuracy and water-resistance claims
Regulation
Jack Mason says it regulates each watch to ±5 seconds per day. Treat that as the manufacturer’s stated regulation target, not an independently verified result or a guarantee of the rate in every wearer’s conditions. No independent timekeeping test is established by the cited product materials.
Water rating
The listed rating is 5 ATM / 50 m. This is the manufacturer’s stated depth rating; it should not be read as an independent water-resistance test or a promise that the watch is suitable for every activity involving water. The cited listing does not provide activity-specific guidance.

Price and availability
Jack Mason’s Sage product page listed the watch at $799 USD and marked it out of stock when accessed October 7, 2026. The brand’s Ellum collection page also listed a Manual Wind variant at $799 and showed it as sold out at that time. Price and inventory can change, so verify both on the Ellum collection page before making a purchase.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a slim, vintage-influenced dress watch, prefer a hand-wound movement and like the linen-texture dial and exhibition-back presentation Jack Mason describes.
- Compare the fit carefully if case length matters to you: check the 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement alongside the 38 mm diameter and 9 mm thickness.
- Look elsewhere if you prefer an automatic watch, do not want regular winding, or need current stock confirmed before committing. The brand’s listing showed the Sage version out of stock on October 7, 2026.
The strongest comparison points are its proportions, manual-wind movement and 42-hour listed reserve, design variant, quick-release 20 mm strap, and current price and availability. The cited sources do not establish that it outperforms competing watches in accuracy, finishing, durability or value.
