Its official specifications pair a 41 mm case with a 49 mm lug-to-lug length, approximately 72 hours of power reserve and 10 bar water resistance. Grand Seiko’s US website lists it at $6,900 as of 2026. This review assesses the published specifications and ownership guidance; it does not claim independent wear or accuracy testing.
What the SBGA211 Snowflake is
The SBGA211 is Grand Seiko’s automatic Spring Drive 3-Day model in the Heritage Collection. Its familiar “Snowflake” name refers to the dial: Grand Seiko says the pattern is inspired by wind-shaped winter snow on the Hotaka mountains near the Shinshu Watch Studio. The dial’s textured silver-white appearance comes from a special silver-plating process, rather than white paint. A blue tempered-steel seconds hand provides a distinct color contrast.

These details make the watch’s identity more specific than a plain white-dial dress watch: the dial texture, blue seconds hand and lightweight titanium construction are central to its look. Whether that combination suits a particular wearer is a matter of taste, not a measurable performance claim.
Size, weight and materials
| Specification | Grand Seiko SBGA211 |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 41.0 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 49.0 mm |
| Thickness | 12.5 mm |
| Band width | 20 mm |
| Weight | 100 g |
| Maximum bracelet perimeter | 193 mm, as listed by Grand Seiko; individual fit still depends on sizing |
| Case and bracelet | High-intensity titanium |
| Crystal | Dual-curved sapphire, with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface |
The 49 mm lug-to-lug measurement is useful to consider alongside the 41 mm diameter when judging fit: case diameter alone does not tell the whole story. The watch weighs 100 g, and Grand Seiko says its high-intensity titanium is about 30% lighter than stainless steel. The brand also describes it as offering superior scratch and corrosion resistance compared with steel; that is not a claim that the watch is scratch-proof.

Spring Drive: what powers and regulates it
Caliber 9R65 is an automatic movement that can also be wound manually. Its power comes from a mainspring, not a battery. Grand Seiko describes Spring Drive’s Tri-Synchro Regulator as combining that mechanical energy source with a quartz oscillator and integrated circuit to regulate the glide wheel.
The oscillator provides a 32,768 Hz reference signal. The integrated circuit compares that signal with the glide wheel’s rotation and uses an electromagnetic brake to regulate its speed. The result is the seconds hand’s continuous glide, rather than the distinct ticks associated with ordinary quartz watches or the beat of traditional mechanical watches. Grand Seiko calls the motion “uniquely smooth and silent” on its Spring Drive explanation page.

Reserve and stated accuracy
Grand Seiko specifies approximately 72 hours (three days) of power reserve when fully wound and accuracy of ±15 seconds per month (±1 second per day). These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of this particular watch. Caliber 9R65 also has a power-reserve indicator and 30 jewels.

The SBGA211’s product page specifies 10 bar water resistance. That rating should be read together with Grand Seiko’s broader guidance for 9R watches: its water-resistance table distinguishes 10 (20) bar models, which it describes as suitable for diving without an air cylinder, from watches designated as diver’s watches, which have separate scuba guidance. The SBGA211 is not identified in the cited product information as a diver’s watch, so its 10 bar rating alone is not a basis for treating it as a scuba-diving watch.
- Grand Seiko instructs owners not to turn or pull out the crown while the watch is wet.
- The 9R instructions advise against wearing the watch in a bath or sauna and against leaving moisture, sweat or dirt on it for a long time; the brand notes these conditions can contribute to deterioration of water resistance.
Consult the official 9R instructions and water-resistance guidance for the complete cautions applicable to the movement family.

Price and how to assess value
Grand Seiko’s US product page lists the SBGA211 at USD 6,900 as of 2026. This is a US official-site listing, not a universal price or a statement about marketplace offers; prices and availability can differ by country, seller, condition and date.
For a value comparison, weigh the features that are established here against the price: the silver-plated textured dial, titanium case and bracelet, Spring Drive mechanism, approximately three-day reserve and manufacturer-stated accuracy. Then compare any alternative or listing using the same basics—current local price, exact reference, condition and seller terms—rather than assuming all offers carry the same warranty or status.

Who should consider the SBGA211?
- Consider it if you want a textured light dial, a blue gliding seconds hand and a titanium bracelet, and you are drawn to Spring Drive’s combination of mainspring power and quartz-referenced regulation.
- Check fit in person if possible because the listed 41 mm diameter, 49 mm lug-to-lug and 12.5 mm thickness do not predict how the watch will sit on every wrist.
- Look elsewhere if your priority is a watch explicitly designated for scuba diving, or if you prefer the visible ticking of a conventional mechanical movement or the simplicity of battery-powered quartz.
Bracelet sizing and handling
Grand Seiko says bracelet sizing is available through the retailer from which the watch was purchased or its international service network; another retailer may charge for the work or decline it. The 9R instruction PDF also advises placing a soft cloth between the caseback, band and clasp when setting the watch down to reduce rubbing scratches. See the brand’s 9R support page for the relevant instruction materials.
