The choice is chiefly functional: the titanium SBGC247 combines a chronograph with GMT, while the stainless-steel SBGE275 is a GMT without chronograph timing. Their sizes, water-resistance ratings, movements and launch prices also differ.

Which complication fits your use?
SBGC247: chronograph timing plus GMT
The SBGC247 adds chronograph timing to its GMT function. Choose it if you want both capabilities in one watch and prefer a titanium case. Its 16.1 mm thickness makes it the thicker of these two references, despite having the slightly smaller diameter.
SBGE275: GMT in a slimmer case
The SBGE275 is the simpler choice if a GMT is what you need and chronograph timing is not a priority. It is 44.0 mm across and 14.9 mm thick, so it is 0.5 mm wider but 1.2 mm thinner than the SBGC247. It has a stainless-steel case.

What the shared dial and Spring Drive mean
Both watches use a white dial whose pattern Grand Seiko says is inspired by schukabra, rugged forms made as wind cuts into deep snow in the Northern Alps near the company’s Shinshu Spring Drive facility. That is the manufacturer’s design explanation, rather than an independently established interpretation. The models connect this shared dial to different anniversary editions: the SBGC247 marks 15 years of the Chronograph, while the SBGE275 marks 20 years of the GMT.
Both are Spring Drive watches. Grand Seiko describes Spring Drive as drawing power from an unwinding mainspring while an integrated circuit and quartz oscillator regulate accuracy; it operates without a battery and produces a smoothly sweeping seconds hand. These are the manufacturer’s account and specifications, not independent accuracy-test results. Grand Seiko stated ±10 seconds per month and approximately 72 hours of power reserve for each model.

Case, water resistance and limited production
The SBGC247’s high-intensity titanium case is smaller in diameter than the SBGE275’s steel case, but thicker. Grand Seiko rated the SBGC247 to 10 bar and the SBGE275 to 20 bar. These are manufacturer ratings; consult the watch’s manual and consider the intended activity rather than treating the rating alone as a recommendation for a particular kind of water use.
Grand Seiko announced worldwide production of 700 SBGC247 watches and 1,500 SBGE275 watches in 2022. The smaller announced run does not, by itself, establish which watch is more valuable or what either might sell for now. Current stock and resale prices are not established by those launch figures.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the SBGC247 if you specifically want a chronograph as well as GMT, a titanium case, or the Chronograph 15th Anniversary edition.
- Choose the SBGE275 if GMT is sufficient, you prefer stainless steel, or the thinner case and higher stated water resistance matter more to you.
- Compare current offers separately from the historical launch prices: the 2022 announcements do not establish present inventory, seller status or resale pricing.
