What is the Grand Seiko SBGH331?
Reference SBGH331 is a stainless-steel Heritage Collection model Grand Seiko designated the Naruto Whirlpools Oceania Exclusive Limited Edition. The name refers to the whirlpools near Naruto, a coastal town in Japan—not the manga or anime franchise. Grand Seiko says the dial pattern reflects the swirls of the whirlpools, which are especially impressive during spring tides.
The brand announced the watch on 26 October 2023. GS9 Club members in Australia and New Zealand were offered pre-release access from 27 October; general public availability at select Grand Seiko boutiques and authorised dealers was scheduled from 1 November 2023. These are launch-period details, not confirmation of current stock.

Dial design and inspiration
The defining feature is the blue dial’s geometric texture. Grand Seiko describes it as a pattern reflecting “the entrancing swirls of the Naruto whirlpools.” That is the maker’s stated design inspiration; it does not imply that the dial depicts a literal map or photograph of the phenomenon.

How many SBGH331 watches were made?
Grand Seiko limited the edition to 150 pieces and said each watch would carry an individual “1 of 150” marking on the case back. The stated production quantity establishes the edition’s limited status, but does not establish present availability, resale value or future investment performance.
What was the SBGH331 launch price?
Grand Seiko’s October 2023 release listed a New Zealand recommended retail price of NZ$10,650. This is the historical launch MSRP for New Zealand, not a current price quotation or an estimate of present market value.

It does not establish current inventory or seller authorization elsewhere.
