This Evolution 9 Hi-Beat limited edition pairs an Mt. Iwate-inspired light-blue dial with the automatic 9SA5 movement, a steel case and bracelet, and a worldwide production run of 1,200 watches.
What is the Grand Seiko SLGH027?
The SLGH027 is a 2025 limited model in Grand Seiko’s Evolution 9 Collection. Its light-blue dial takes inspiration from Mt. Iwate, near the studio where Grand Seiko produces watches. The U.S. announcement describes the design as evoking the mountain’s majesty and the air and water around the studio. Grand Seiko announced 1,200 pieces worldwide. Grand Seiko’s U.S. release and its Japanese release are dated February 3, 2025.

Caliber 9SA5 and the 80-hour reserve
The automatic 9SA5 is a Hi-Beat movement running at 36,000 vibrations per hour, or 10 per second. Grand Seiko specifies an approximately 80-hour power reserve and 47 jewels. The reserve is the stated running time when fully wound; it does not change the movement’s frequency.

Case, dial and wearing details
The 40.0 mm case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel. The watch is 11.7 mm thick and has a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflective coating. Its water-resistance rating is 10 bar. The three-fold clasp has a push-button release and includes titanium and 18K pink-gold components, making it a distinct part of this model’s specification rather than a generic Evolution 9 detail.
SLGH027 price at launch
Grand Seiko’s original Japan launch recommendation was ¥1,463,000 including tax. Its U.S. release gave an approximate recommended retail price of $10,500. These are region-specific launch prices from 2025, not current retail quotes or estimates of resale value. The limited production number alone does not establish that the watch will appreciate.

SLGH027 limited-edition status and availability
Grand Seiko announced a global production run of 1,200, with 700 pieces allocated to Japan in the Japanese release. The company planned availability at Grand Seiko boutiques and selected retail partners worldwide beginning in May 2025. That was the launch plan, not a guarantee of present stock.
As of the product page currently available, the Grand Seiko Official Boutique U.S. listing says “No Longer Available.” That status applies to that listing; it does not prove that no authorized retailer or other seller has remaining stock. For a current offer, check the seller, condition, warranty and availability directly rather than treating the 2025 launch price as today’s asking price.

How SLGH027 differs from the 2026 Evolution 9 models
SLGH027 is the separately announced 2025 limited edition. It should not be confused with Grand Seiko’s refreshed mechanical lineup announced in June 2026, which lists references SLGH029, SLGH031, SLGH033 and SLGH035. The 2026 announcement describes those watches with the same 40.0 mm by 11.7 mm case dimensions, 80-hour reserve and 36,000-vibration-per-hour frequency, but specifies a micro-adjustment clasp. SLGH027’s listed three-fold clasp includes titanium and 18K pink-gold components. The shared movement specifications do not make the references the same watch, and the clasp descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable. See Grand Seiko’s June 24, 2026 Evolution 9 update.
