Moser Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton, reference 6814-1200, combines a fully skeletonised automatic tourbillon movement with a 72-hour power reserve, a 40.0 mm steel case and an integrated steel bracelet. H. Moser & Cie. lists it at CHF 79,000 excluding VAT. The only skeleton tourbillon with published specifications that can be set beside it in this article is Roger Dubuis’s Excalibur Spider Carbon 45 mm, which is manually wound and rated to up to 90 hours. The two watches differ in winding method, power reserve, case size and case construction, so the useful question is which of those differences matter to you, not which watch is better.
The steel reference: Streamliner Tourbillon Skeleton 6814-1200
This is the core model of the comparison. It is a steel Streamliner with a 40.0 mm case, 12 ATM water resistance and an integrated steel bracelet, so the bracelet and case form one continuous design rather than a case with a strap attached.
Movement design
The movement is the HMC 814. According to the H. Moser & Cie. product page, it is an automatic, three-dimensional, fully skeletonised calibre with a one-minute flying tourbillon and a patented double hairspring, and the stated power reserve is 72 hours. The brand describes the movement concept in this sentence, which is attributed here to the H. Moser & Cie. product page rather than to any named individual:
“The fully skeletonised HMC 814 is an automatic, three-dimensional calibre designed to have exceptionally open bridges to allow more light to traverse the entire watch and highlight the in-house one-minute flying tourbillon with a patented double hairspring.”

Open bridges are the defining visual trait of this kind of watch: the dial side and the movement side are both visible through the bridges, so the tourbillon cage is seen against a largely open structure. Whether that openness translates into better or worse everyday durability is not something the product page addresses.
Case and bracelet
The steel case is 40.0 mm across, and the bracelet is integrated into the case design. Reference 6814-1200 is the steel version; the brand offers a different limited edition in ceramic, covered next.

Ceramic Alpine Limited Edition 6814-2100
The Ceramic Alpine Limited Edition uses the same HMC 814 movement family and the same 40.0 mm case diameter, but changes the materials and colour. The case is anthracite-grey ceramic. The bridges and main plate are Alpine blue, and the watch is fitted with an integrated blue Alcantara bracelet. The edition is limited to 100 pieces, according to the H. Moser & Cie. Alpine edition product page.
For a buyer, this means the Alpine is not a different mechanical proposition from the steel reference. The difference is the case material, the colour scheme and the bracelet material, plus the limit on how many are made. Edition status is a product-page claim and can change, so check it before treating the limit as current.

Comparing the specifications
The table sets the two H. Moser references beside the Roger Dubuis comparator. Figures come from the manufacturer product pages checked in 2026. Where a page does not state a value, the table says so instead of filling the gap with an estimate.

Winding method and power reserve
This is the sharpest mechanical difference in the table. The H. Moser references wind automatically from the wearer’s movement, while the Roger Dubuis RD509SQ is manually wound. Manual winding asks the owner to wind the watch by hand, which is a daily habit rather than a background function. In exchange, a manual movement does not depend on wearing the watch to keep it running.

The reserve figures are also not directly equivalent. The H. Moser figure is 72 hours. The Roger Dubuis page states up to 90 hours. Both are manufacturer figures measured under the brands’ own conditions, and neither page describes the test method. A longer stated reserve means the watch can stand unworn for longer before stopping, but it does not show how the watch performs in timekeeping, which the comparison cannot address.
Case format and wearing details
The Roger Dubuis case is 45 mm, which is 5 mm wider in diameter than either H. Moser reference. Diameter alone does not describe how a watch sits on the wrist. Thickness, lug shape and bracelet length all affect fit, and none of those are given in the sources used here.

The H. Moser references share a 12 ATM water-resistance rating, which the product page states. The Roger Dubuis page does not state water resistance, so no water-resistance comparison is possible. Material is also a clear dividing line: the steel reference is a metal case with an integrated metal bracelet, while the Alpine trades the steel for ceramic and a fabric bracelet. Those choices change weight, feel and the way the watch handles daily knocks, but the product pages do not compare those qualities.

This article’s comparison rests on one documented comparator. When you assess any other skeleton tourbillon, check the same set of published facts so that the comparison stays like for like:
- Movement and tourbillon type. Is the calibre fully skeletonised or partly skeletonised? Is the tourbillon described as flying, and is it a single or multiple tourbillon?
- Winding method. Automatic, manual, or both. Note whether the brand specifies the winding mechanism.
- Stated power reserve. Record the brand’s exact figure and whether it is stated as “up to” a value.
- Case diameter and material. Use millimetres from the brand page. Note whether the case material is specified for the case itself or only for the movement components.
- Bracelet or strap. Integrated bracelet, separate strap, or a choice of both.
- Water resistance. Note the stated rating and unit, such as ATM.
- Edition status. Production model or numbered limited edition, and the stated piece count.
- Published price. The price, its currency, whether VAT is included, and the date you checked it.
If a brand page does not state one of these facts, record it as not stated instead of inferring it from the model name or from another reference. That keeps the comparison honest when one watch publishes more detail than another.
Which differences matter for which buyer
- If you want a watch that runs without daily winding, the automatic H. Moser references fit that expectation. The Roger Dubuis RD509SQ requires manual winding.
- If you value the longest stated reserve, the manufacturer figure favours the Roger Dubuis at up to 90 hours over the 72 hours stated for the H. Moser references.
- If you prefer a compact case, the 40.0 mm H. Moser references are smaller in diameter than the 45 mm Roger Dubuis.
- If you want a single metal case and bracelet, the steel reference is the direct match. The Alpine suits a buyer who wants ceramic, Alpine blue and fabric, and who accepts a 100-piece limit.
- If you need a published price for the Roger Dubuis model, this article cannot supply one, so you will need to obtain it from the brand or an authorised dealer.
