In a 2020 hands-on review, Time+Tide’s James Robinson described it as a refinement of the original Puck: still imposing at 48 mm wide and 14 mm high, but with a streamlined steel case, a 500 m water-resistance rating and a sapphire-covered bezel.
What is the Halios Puck II?
The Halios Puck II is the second version of Halios’s hockey-puck-inspired dive watch. The original earned its name from its resemblance to the disc-shaped hockey puck. Robinson wrote that “The brutal Puck – named for its resemblance to a hockey puck – epitomised this approach.” His 2020 review presents the sequel as a refinement of that uncompromisingly utilitarian design, rather than a move toward a conventional, smaller dive watch.
The review’s dimensions explain the nickname: its case is 48 mm wide and 14 mm high. It is made from 316L stainless steel and has no conventional protruding lugs. These are figures and observations reported in Time+Tide’s 2020 review, not a current manufacturer specification sheet. Time+Tide’s Puck II review.
What changed from the original Puck?
The Puck II keeps the original’s broad, puck-like profile but revises its construction and specification. The following comparison reflects the details reported by Time+Tide in 2020; it is not a current market or availability comparison.

| Feature | Original Puck | Puck II |
|---|---|---|
| Case | Hockey-puck-inspired form; dimensions not stated in the 2020 review. | 316L steel, 48 mm wide and 14 mm high. |
| Water resistance | 1,000 m, according to the 2020 review. | 500 m, according to the 2020 review. |
| Bezel | Screwed design. | Sapphire overlay replaces aluminium. |
| Dial details | Not stated in the 2020 review. | Polished roundel markers, orange five-minute markers and an orange tip on the seconds hand. |
| Movement | Not stated in the 2020 review. | Miyota 9015. |
| Price cited in the review | Approximately US$1,000 at the time, as reported in 2020. | US$675 listed in the 2020 review; this is not a verified current price. |
The most significant specification change is the reduction from the original’s reported 1,000 m rating to 500 m on the Puck II. The bezel also changed: the original used a screwed design, while the sequel has a sapphire overlay in place of aluminium. The updated dial’s round markers and orange accents add contrast without softening the watch’s stark, industrial character.
How does the Puck II wear?
Although its case is large, the lack of conventional lugs changes how it meets the wrist. Robinson said, “The case is still gigantic, but because of the lugless design it actually wears quite comfortably, though I’m sure the design isn’t for everyone.” That is his hands-on assessment, not a guarantee that the watch will feel comfortable on every wrist.

- The dual time zone display function will make your trips more convenient; 12/24 hour format display can meet the time reading habits of different people.

- The watch battery is replaceable. If you find that the watch is not working or the text on the display is not clear, please replace the watch battery in time.
The unusual case shape can complicate strap selection. Robinson pointed to chunky shark mesh and ISOfrane-style straps as possibilities, while warning that some straps may be difficult to fit. He also noted that bracelet links close to the case can rub against it. Anyone considering the watch should confirm that a specific strap or bracelet fits this case rather than assume standard options will work.

The Puck II makes sense for someone who wants an unmistakably large, functional-looking dive watch and values distinctive design over a low-profile fit. Its 48 mm width, puck-like outline and restricted strap flexibility are central parts of the experience, not details that disappear once it is on the wrist. The 2020 review’s US$675 figure is historical; it does not establish today’s price, stock or authorized-retailer availability.
