Felix Scholz’s six picks from OMEGA’s 2019 Time to Move presentation ranged from a white-dial Seamaster Diver 300M to a grey-enamel De Ville Trésor in Sedna gold. The shortlist is a personal selection, not an official OMEGA ranking; Scholz reported 67 new watches on display, plus two special vintage pieces. Here are his six choices, their distinguishing details and the Australian-dollar prices published in 2019.

The order below follows Felix Scholz’s selection in Time+Tide’s 17 May 2019 article. The AUD figures are the prices that article listed at publication; they are historical, not current retail quotes.

Seamaster Diver 300M Ceramic Titanium — AUD 11,100
Scholz’s most tool-like choice combines ceramic and titanium in a 43.5 mm case, with no date and PVD-coated titanium hands. He noted that it appeared to wear smaller, an observation rather than a measured fit claim.

Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, steel — AUD 13,175
This steel anniversary edition pairs Moonshine gold details with a small illustration at nine o’clock, a solid caseback and a revised vintage-style bracelet. Scholz reported a limit of 6,969 pieces.

Seamaster Diver Chronograph Bico — AUD 12,725
Scholz’s Bico pick is a 44 mm chronograph powered by calibre 9900, with colour, case and strap variations tied to the time-only Seamaster family. Its ceramic pushers echo the conical helium escape valve. OMEGA’s 2019 novelties press information also describes 44 mm Diver 300M chronographs and calibre 9900, though its illustrated model should not be assumed to match every Bico configuration.

Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph — AUD 10,950
This selection brings orange ceramic into a third-generation Planet Ocean design update, with a ceramised-titanium dial. Scholz gives the size as 45.5 mm and weight as 260 g on bracelet; those figures are his report for the watch configuration discussed, not specifications to apply to every version. He also notes two NATO versions.

De Ville Trésor Sedna Gold — AUD 20,550
The dressier choice is a Sedna gold Trésor with a grey enamel dial. Scholz contrasted it with a red-enamel Trésor unveiled earlier that year; the manually wound Master Chronometer movement he mentions applies to that earlier model, not necessarily this Sedna Gold selection.

How the six watches differ
The shortlist spans different formats rather than a single kind of “best.” The Diver 300M Ceramic Titanium is the 43.5 mm ceramic-and-titanium no-date option; the Diver Chronograph Bico measures 44 mm; and the Planet Ocean Chronograph is reported at 45.5 mm. The Trésor stands apart with its gold case and enamel dial. For complications, the picks include time-only Diver models alongside two chronographs. Visually, the distinguishing cues include the white ceramic dial, Moonshine gold accents, orange ceramic and grey enamel. The Apollo 11 steel edition is the only one in this list with a stated production limit.
Scholz did not present a formal scoring system, and the source does not provide a consistent set of dimensions, weights or specifications across all six. The list therefore does not establish a universal best choice for every wrist, activity or budget.

Which Apollo 11 anniversary Speedmaster is this?
The selected watch is the steel Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, reported at 6,969 pieces by Scholz. It is distinct from the gold Apollo 11 anniversary edition described by Swatch Group in March 2019, which was limited to 1,014 pieces and used a new 18K gold alloy with manual-winding Master Chronometer calibre 3861. Those gold-model details should not be attributed to the steel pick. Swatch Group’s archive also recounts the Speedmaster’s role as a backup timing instrument: NASA engineer James Ragan said, “The watch was a backup. If the astronauts lost the capability of talking to the ground, or the capability of their digital timers on the lunar surface, then the only thing they had to rely on was the OMEGA watch they had on their wrist. It needed to be there for them if they had a problem.” The historical context does not establish a specific certification for the 2019 watches in this shortlist.
