Choose the 38mm Khaki Field Mechanical H69439931 if you want a hand-wound watch and a thinner case. Choose the 38mm Khaki Field Auto H70455133 if you prefer a rotor-driven automatic movement and want the higher stated water-resistance rating. Both list an 80-hour power reserve, sapphire crystal, and the same 47mm lug-to-lug length, so the key differences are how you power them, case thickness, water-resistance rating, and supplied strap or bracelet.
How the movements differ
Khaki Field Mechanical: you wind it by hand
The H69439931 uses Hamilton’s H-50 hand-wound movement. Hamilton’s official product description says: “Wind your mechanical watch by turning the crown clockwise.” Hamilton describes the H-50 as “an exclusive caliber specifically developed for our handwinding watches.” Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent assessments.

Khaki Field Auto: wrist movement winds it
The H70455133 uses Hamilton’s H-10 automatic movement. Hamilton explains that wrist movement swings an inner rotor, transferring energy to the mainspring and powering the watch. You do not need to wind it as part of normal wear in the same way as the hand-wound model.
Hamilton lists an 80-hour power reserve for both exact references. This is a manufacturer specification, not a comparative test of how long individual watches run in use.

What does the water-resistance difference mean?
Hamilton lists the Mechanical at 5 bar (50m) and the Auto at 10 bar (100m). The cited product pages do not specify which activities either rating guarantees. Treat the figures as the manufacturer’s stated ratings, not as an activity-by-activity promise; check Hamilton’s guidance for the exact watch and your intended use before exposing it to water.
How should price and supplied bracelet or strap affect the choice?
The cited pages show different configurations: the Mechanical page lists a textile strap and pin buckle, while the Auto page lists a stainless-steel bracelet and folding clasp. That changes the package you are comparing, and either configuration may differ by market or exact reference.

Choose the Mechanical if
- You specifically want to wind the watch by hand.
- You value the thinner listed 9.5mm case.
- The manufacturer’s 5 bar rating fits your needs.
Choose the Auto if
- You prefer an automatic watch whose rotor winds the mainspring as you wear it.
- You place weight on its higher stated 10 bar rating.
- You want the listed stainless-steel bracelet configuration.
Neither is universally better. The Mechanical makes the most sense for the hand-winding interaction and slimmer case; the Auto is the fit for someone who prefers automatic winding and values its higher stated water-resistance rating. Hamilton’s listed specifications do not establish which is more accurate, less expensive to service, more durable, or more comfortable in real-world wear.
