Why railroad timekeeping matters to Hamilton’s history
Hamilton’s company history says the company was founded in Lancaster in 1892 and began by producing pocket watches. It connects the brand’s early reputation to the need for accurate timekeeping on the railroads. The company describes its early pocket watches as “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy.” That phrase is Hamilton’s own historical characterization, not an independently established industry award.
