Reference 10721, also identified as M0A10721 and called the Riviera Squelette, is a stainless-steel automatic watch with a black, openworked dial. It belongs to Baume & Mercier’s Riviera line and keeps the collection’s twelve-sided case and four bezel screws. The official product page classifies it as an automatic skeleton watch. Legibility
Time+Tide Digital Editor Tom Austin’s hands-on account identifies legibility as a strength for a skeleton watch. He says the dial cutouts align with the hour markers, giving the eye clear reference points despite the exposed movement. He also notes that printing on the inside of the crystal appears to float above the dial. Those are the reviewer’s visual impressions, not a quantified readability test. Case size and fit
The case measures 42 mm across and 11.11 mm thick according to the official product page. Austin considered the 42 mm case a little on the large side. That judgment is a useful fit cue, but wrist comfort is personal; anyone unsure should try the watch on rather than rely on diameter alone.

Strap changes
The supplied black rubber strap has a canvas pattern. Austin praised the integrated quick-release arrangement, which the article calls Fast Strap and says allows strap changes without tools. The sources do not establish compatibility with aftermarket straps, so confirm the exact 10721 interface before buying a replacement.

The movement descriptions come from different sources: the brand calls it an exclusive semi-skeleton calibre developed specifically for Baume & Mercier, while Time+Tide supplies the Sellita AMT2500 identification. The official product description emphasizes the view of the gear trains and wheels through the skeletonized construction. Austin found the rear view through the exhibition caseback less compelling than the dial side; that is his aesthetic assessment, not a performance finding. Price and availability
Time+Tide reported the Riviera Skeleton’s unveiling at Watches and Wonders 2024, regular-production availability from April 2024, and an Australian launch price of A$6,900. That is historical Australian pricing, not a current quote or a global recommended price.
Baume & Mercier’s English product page now places the model under Heritage and labels it “no longer available” in that page context. This does not establish worldwide discontinuation or local stock status. Check the brand or an authorized retailer in your region for current availability and price, and verify that any marketplace listing is specifically reference M0A10721.

Who should consider it?
The 10721 is worth considering if you want a skeletonized display but still value conventional hour markers and a recognizable time reading. Its 42 mm diameter makes trying it on especially worthwhile if you prefer smaller watches. When comparing it with another openworked watch, check the case thickness as well as diameter, how clearly the hands and markers stand out, the movement’s stated identity and reserve, water resistance, crystal treatment, strap attachment, and locally confirmed availability and price. The available material supports those comparison points, but not a sourced head-to-head against a specific rival.
