The Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon pairs an integrated-bracelet sports-watch design with a slim, self-winding flying-tourbillon movement. Reference 298616-3003 has a 41 mm Lucent Steel case, an 8 mm profile and 100 m water resistance. Chopard lists both COSC chronometer certification and the Poinçon de Genève hallmark. Its US product page currently gives the price as “Price on request”; a US$126,500 figure appeared in Time+Tide’s 2025 coverage and should be treated as historical, not as a current quote.

What is the Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon?

It is the tourbillon version of Chopard’s Alpine Eagle, an integrated-bracelet watch with a polished, contemporary sports-watch design. The specific model covered here is reference 298616-3003, crafted in Lucent Steel. The official US page describes its dial as Rhône Blue, with a gold-stamped radiant motif centered on the tourbillon. Time+Tide’s 2025 article describes the dial as light blue; the official regional product description is used here for the color name. Chopard’s product page lists a 41 mm case, integrated metal bracelet, sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire display back.

What is it like on the wrist?

At 41 mm across and 8 mm thick, the listed dimensions give the watch a broad, notably slim profile for a sports-style watch with a tourbillon. The integrated bracelet carries the case design onto the wrist, while the dial’s open tourbillon display puts the complication at the center of the view. Those measurements are specifications, not a standardized fit or comfort assessment; the available coverage does not establish how the watch fits different wrist sizes.

In a 2025 in-hand feature, Time+Tide UK Editor Russell Sheldrake highlighted the contrast between the sporty Alpine Eagle design and the tourbillon, and noted the movement’s two-barrel Twin Technology. These are his editorial observations, not a standardized wear test. Read Time+Tide’s in-hand coverage.

What does the flying tourbillon mean?

Chopard describes the defining construction this way: “A flying tourbillon is characterized by the absence of an upper bridge.” In this movement, the tourbillon cage is held from below rather than supported by a bridge above it, leaving the mechanism visually open when viewed through the dial. The term describes the construction and appearance; it does not, by itself, establish an accuracy advantage.

Movement and technical specifications

The watch uses Chopard’s self-winding L.U.C 96.24-L movement. Chopard says its L.U.C Twin Technology uses two stacked barrels, and lists approximately 65 hours of power reserve. The movement drives hours, minutes and small seconds, with stop seconds and a tourbillon.
