Michael Stockton of Fratello Watches reported hands-on impressions after seeing it at Geneva Watch Days 2025; those observations are his, while the specifications and certification process below are attributed to Louis Moinet.
A retro-fresh design, built around the case and dial
Louis Moinet frames the 1806 as a meeting of historical watchmaking cues and contemporary materials. The brand describes its case as semi-bassine in the Directoire style, with a double gadroon. Grade 5 titanium is finished with both polished and satin surfaces, giving the round watch contrast without relying on a conventional precious-metal case.
The dial continues the historical references in a restrained way: Louis Moinet specifies a rhodium-plated dial, historic typography, blackened nickel cabochons and blued-steel hands. A small-seconds display completes the hours-and-minutes layout. Together, those features make the watch feel vintage-inflected without presenting it as a replica of an earlier model.
The “1806” name refers, according to Louis Moinet, to a clock the watchmaker created for Napoleon in that year. This is the brand’s explanation of the name and heritage connection, rather than an independently established claim about the present watch’s construction.

What Michael Stockton noticed on the wrist
In his September 24, 2025 Fratello Watches report, Michael Stockton described the 1806 as a distinctive round alternative among integrated-bracelet watches. He reported positive impressions of the bracelet’s comfort and the curved lugs. These are his subjective observations from time with the watch at Geneva Watch Days 2025, not a guarantee of fit or comfort for every wrist.
The case measures 40.6 mm across, according to the official specification page. Fratello gives its thickness as 15.15 mm and notes a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating. The official page identifies a Grade 5 titanium bracelet with a folding clasp. The diameter is a useful starting point, but case thickness and the way the curved lugs meet the wrist also affect how a watch wears.

The 50 m water-resistance rating is a specification, not a claim that this is a purpose-built dive watch. Louis Moinet lists the watch as Swiss made.
What the observatory certification claim does—and does not—establish
Louis Moinet says the chronometer was certified by the Geneva Astronomical Observatory. The brand’s product page says each movement undergoes fifteen days of trials across multiple positions and temperature variations. That is the manufacturer’s description of the process; the sources cited here do not independently document the protocol or give a measured daily rate for this specific watch. The stated trial period therefore should not be read as a particular accuracy result.

Founder Jean-Marie Schaller’s statement on the brand’s product page connects the model to the historic relationship between astronomy and timekeeping: “When we think about measuring time, what is genuine to that art is accuracy, exactness and reliability. This quest for precision guided the work of the great watchmaker Louis Moinet. Today, this quest has found a new echo with the 1806, a chronometer certified by the Geneva Astronomical Observatory. A timepiece that also reminds us that astronomy and watchmaking have been intimately linked for centuries. In fact, it was Louis Moinet’s desire to measure the movement of the stars that paved the way for modern chronometry.” This is the founder’s statement as published by Louis Moinet, not a quotation from the observatory or an independent certification body.
Price context and recognition
Fratello’s September 24, 2025 article listed CHF 18,900 excluding taxes as a price reference shown online in the UK. It is a dated, geographically qualified secondary reference—not a confirmed current official price or a price that should be assumed to apply in every market. Louis Moinet’s product page does not state a current price in the material cited here, so availability, local pricing, taxes and service terms should be checked with the brand or a market-specific authorized retailer.

Louis Moinet announced that the model received a Lifetime Gala Award 2025 after its Geneva Watch Days unveiling. That recognition is reported by the brand in its October 30, 2025 announcement.
