The Oris AquisPro 4000m is a purpose-built, 49.50 mm titanium dive watch rated to 400 bar (4,000 m), with a locking bezel system and Oris Calibre 400. Its scale and depth rating make it an extreme specialist rather than an obvious everyday choice. The useful question is whether its distinctive hardware, fit and ownership terms suit you—not whether a watch rating makes diving to that depth safe for a person.
What is the Oris AquisPro 4000m?
It is Oris’s large, professional-style diver, reference 01 400 7777 7155-Set. The current Oris product listing specifies a multi-piece titanium case, a ceramic bezel marked for minutes and water resistance of 400 bar, equivalent to 4,000 m. That is the watch’s stated rating; it is not a recommendation or guarantee of safe human diving depth.
Oris’s official product details are on its Aquis Pro 4000m product page. Because that listing is localized in Turkish, its displayed price and online availability should be read as listing information for that page, not a universal price or stock statement.
Why the size changes the decision
Dimensions and weight
Oris lists a 49.50 mm diameter. Fratello’s August 2023 review gives the watch a thickness of 23.4 mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 55 mm. The same review says its pre-production sample weighed under 200 grams. That mass is the reviewer’s measurement of the sample, not a manufacturer-published weight specification.

Those proportions are the most immediate practical issue. Gerard Nijenbrinks wrote, “Handling the Oris AquisPro 4000M, it’s immediately apparent that it’s not a regular dive watch.” He found the supplied blue rubber strap and titanium clasp’s fine adjustment helpful for distributing the watch’s weight and getting a snug fit. In his own use, however, he sometimes changed the strap length unintentionally while opening the clasp. These are one reviewer’s observations, not a guarantee of comfort or clasp behavior on every wrist.
Fratello’s account is a hands-on impression, not a production-movement performance test: the review sample was pre-production and had a nonfunctional movement. Read its fit and handling remarks as personal experience with that sample.
Who is likely to appreciate the proportions?
- Consider it if you specifically want a large, conspicuous technical diver and have a wrist that can accommodate a 55 mm lug-to-lug watch.
- Be cautious if you want a slim, unobtrusive daily watch. The 23.4 mm thickness and nearly 50 mm diameter are substantial even before considering the strap and clasp.
- Try it on if possible. A reviewer’s favorable account of weight distribution cannot settle how this unusually thick case will sit on your wrist.
How the Rotation Safety System works
Oris describes its patented Rotation Safety System (RSS) as a bezel-locking design intended to prevent accidental adjustment during a dive. The ceramic bezel carries a minute scale, so its purpose is to provide a dive-timing reference while the lock helps guard against an unintended change. The feature is specifically about securing the bezel; it does not change the watch’s depth rating or establish that a particular dive is safe.
Movement and ownership terms
The AquisPro 4000m uses Oris Calibre 400, an automatic movement with a stated 120-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Oris’s product information also lists a sapphire crystal domed on both sides with anti-reflective treatment, a rubber strap and 26 mm between the lugs.
Oris states that the standard warranty is two years, with a free extension to ten years through MyOris registration. The brand also describes ten-year service intervals. Check the applicable terms and registration requirements with Oris for your market; the interval is the manufacturer’s stated guidance, not an independent assessment of maintenance needs.

Is it excessive or spot-on?
Fratello’s Gerard Nijenbrinks called the watch “pointless” in the practical sense that its extreme capability exceeds most everyday needs, while still admiring its unusual proportions and ambition. That is a reviewer’s judgment, not a technical classification. For someone who wants a daily wearer first, the case dimensions are a more consequential drawback than the headline depth rating is a benefit. For a collector drawn to highly specialized dive-watch engineering and an imposing titanium design, that same excess is the point.
The AquisPro 4000m makes most sense when its size and purpose are deliberate choices. Its 4,000 m rating, RSS bezel lock and five-day reserve are clear specifications; whether it is comfortable and useful on your wrist is personal, and deserves an in-person try-on if you can arrange one.
