The David Candaux DC12 MaveriK puts an unusual movement idea at the center of the watch: two balances connected by a flying satellite planetary differential that averages their rates. The differential sits at 12 o’clock and also drives the small-seconds display. It is housed in a curved 39.5 mm titanium case with a layered dial designed to follow its shape. The official product page lists the watch at 98,000 CHF, but its stated power reserve conflicts with launch coverage: David Candaux lists 96 hours, while Fratello and Hodinkee report 58.
How does the DC12 MaveriK’s double balance work?
The hand-wound C30 calibre has two balances linked by a flying satellite planetary differential. David Candaux says the differential calculates a mean of the balances’ rates, allowing the mechanism to respond to deviations. The assembly is visible at 12 o’clock, where it completes one revolution every 60 seconds and carries the small-seconds display. This is an unusual way to make the regulating architecture itself part of the dial.
The manufacturer describes the C30 as a seven-level in-house movement, with the differential mounted on a hairspring shock absorber. Its listed specifications are 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and 45 jewels. These are published specifications, not independent measurements of accuracy or performance. What is the DC12 MaveriK power reserve?
The published figures do not agree. David Candaux’s current product page specifies 96 hours, while Fratello and Hodinkee’s 2025 launch coverage each gives 58 hours. The consulted sources do not explain the discrepancy, so neither figure can be treated here as independently verified or reconciled.
How large is the case, and what is the dial made of?
The case is titanium and fully curved. Its stated caseband diameter is 39.5 mm; its height is 11.7 mm, or 11.9 mm measured over the sapphire crystals. The manufacturer describes the case as asymmetric from 6 to 12 o’clock and symmetric from 3 to 9 o’clock. David Candaux

The dial follows the curved case profile. A nickel-silver, “chips”-shaped base frames a white opal central hour disc, with applied indexes and flame-blued hands. The differential and its small-seconds indication occupy the 12 o’clock area beneath sapphire.
Fratello describes alternating brushed and polished case surfaces and reports that the curved watch wore naturally on the reviewer’s wrist. What are the crown, strap, and water-resistance details?
The manufacturer calls the crown a pressure-release “Magic” crown and lists neutral, time-setting, and winding positions. Hodinkee describes the crown at 6 o’clock as push-down: it extends for winding or setting and retracts into the case after another push. Hodinkee

How much does it cost, and is it available?
The current official product page lists a price of 98,000 CHF and invites prospective buyers to plan an appointment.
