The Dennison ALD Stone Dials Collection is a modern quartz watch built around a slim, cushion-shaped case and individually patterned natural-stone dials. It is a contemporary revival of Dennison’s case-making heritage, not a vintage mechanical reissue. The original launch comprises five references in steel or gold PVD, with malachite, aventurine, lapis lazuli or tiger-eye dials.
What the ALD Stone Dials are
Dennison was a Birmingham, England case maker associated with brands including Omega and Longines before closing in 1967. The contemporary brand revisits that history through the ALD collection, whose rounded, retro-television-like cushion case is described in the official catalog as an “Electro-Modern” reinterpretation. Emmanuel Gueit is identified as the designer.

Inside, the Stone Dials use a Swiss Ronda 1032-1 quartz movement. The result is a thin, low-maintenance hours-and-minutes watch rather than a restoration of a historical Dennison caliber.

Five original Stone Dials references
The launch collection combines three stone options with two case treatments. Because the dial material is natural, no two watches will have exactly the same veining, inclusions or color balance.
#1 Best Overall
- 🌊【Deep Blue Current】The navy dial mirrors the quiet strength of deep waters — timeless, enigmatic, and serene. With its silver bracelet, it reflects light like moonlight on waves. Designed to accompany moments of stillness, motion, and everything in between.
- 【Brilliant Lab-Grown Diamonds】31 mm case set with 0.132 ct total diamonds, 36 mm case with 0.154 ct, all D–F color and VVS–VS clarity. Keep your watch looking brilliant with 0% carbon emissions.
- 【Swiss Ronda 763 Quartz Movement】Premium Swiss three-hand quartz movement delivers precise, dependable timekeeping for everyday wear.
- 【Sapphire Crystal】Scratch-resistant sapphire glass protects the dial and preserves a crystal-clear view for lasting brilliance.
- 【Find Your Perfect Fit】 For the ideal balance of presence and comfort, we suggest the 31mm case if your wrist measures between 5.5"–6.3" (14–16 cm) — it offers a refined, elegant silhouette. If your wrist falls in the 6.3"–7.5" (16–19 cm) range, the 36mm case delivers a more substantial yet classic look. Both versions feature a sleek folding clasp with a push‑button release, and we include a precision screwdriver so you can resize the bracelet at home with ease.
| Case | Dial stone | Selection note |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel | Malachite | Green banding varies substantially from piece to piece. |
| Stainless steel | Aventurine | Dark, glittering texture; each slice has its own distribution of sparkle. |
| Stainless steel | Lapis lazuli | Blue stone with naturally varying flecks and tone. |
| Gold PVD-coated stainless steel | Aventurine | Pairs the warm case color with a dark, reflective stone. |
| Gold PVD-coated stainless steel | Tiger-eye | Chatoyant bands can differ in direction and intensity. |
Straps are offered in several colors, including options matched to the dial. For a stone watch, choosing the actual dial pattern—not only the reference name—is part of the buying decision.

The 6.05mm thickness is the practical headline: the ALD slips easily under a cuff. Its broad dial and nearly lugless case, however, make it appear larger on the wrist than the numbers suggest. The cushion outline spreads laterally, so wrist presence is closer to a compact rectangular watch than to a small round dress watch.
Rank #2
- Round silver-tone watch featuring white dial with stick indices, luminous hands, and mini date window
- 39 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Movement: Conventional Battery G111, Japanese quartz movement with analog display.
- Croco-embossed leather band with buckle closure
- Water resistant to 50 m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not diving or snorkeling
How it wears in practice
Case and dial
The hands-on review found the rounded case, simple handset, off-center logo and countersunk crown convincing in person. With no prominent conventional lugs, the case reads as one continuous sculpted form. The wide stone dial becomes the visual focus, while the restrained two-hand display keeps the pattern legible.

The supplied leather straps were reported as stiff, with somewhat sharp edges. The buckle received a more favorable assessment. This is a reviewer’s wearing observation, not an independent laboratory test, and leather will also change with use. If the stock strap does not soften comfortably, the 20mm width makes replacement straightforward; a contrasting leather strap can also balance a particularly busy stone pattern.

Water resistance and daily use
At 30 meters, the ALD is suited to everyday splashes and hand washing, not swimming or deliberate water exposure. The snap-on back and quartz movement favor simple ownership, but battery replacement remains a periodic service requirement despite the reported five-year battery life.
Stone and case choices: a practical guide
Choose the stone first
- Malachite: best if you want pronounced green banding and a highly graphic dial.
- Aventurine: suits buyers who prefer a dark field with subtle sparkle; it is available with both steel and gold PVD cases.
- Lapis lazuli: offers a blue alternative whose natural flecks make every dial individual.
- Tiger-eye: brings warm brown-gold movement and is offered in the gold PVD reference.
Then choose the case finish
Steel is the quieter, more versatile option and works naturally with malachite, aventurine or lapis. Gold PVD gives the same thin cushion profile a dressier, warmer character, especially with tiger-eye or aventurine. PVD is a coating over stainless steel, not solid gold, so buyers should treat it as a finish that can eventually show wear at exposed edges.

Inspect the individual watch when possible
Natural stone is not uniform sheet material. Ask the seller for photographs of the actual watch, or confirm how pieces are allocated, if the exact balance of veining and color matters to you. A reference name alone cannot describe the final dial.
Original Stone Dials versus later ALD Elements
The later ALD Elements In Steel keeps the compact profile but changes the dial concept. Its 37 × 33.5mm, 6.05mm case uses sapphire and a jigsaw-style dial combining tiger’s eye, lapis lazuli, onyx and amazonite. It is powered by a Swiss Ronda 1062 quartz movement.

These are different generations and constructions, so the later model’s price should not be treated as a current price for every Stone Dials reference.
Is the Dennison ALD worth its price?
Value depends on what you want from a watch. The ALD’s strongest case is its distinctive natural material, unusually thin cushion profile and low-effort quartz ownership. Sapphire, a five-year reported battery life and a two-year warranty add practical reassurance.
- Good fit: you want a slim statement watch, enjoy mineral variation and prefer accurate, convenient quartz.
- Less suitable: you specifically want a mechanical movement, high water resistance, a compact round profile or a strap that feels supple immediately out of the box.
The €637.95 / £545 figure was reported by a November 2024 review and included shipping. Prices, stock and regional delivery terms can change. The later ALD Elements listing at $1,020 demonstrates that ALD pricing varies by model and generation; verify the current amount and shipping destination on the official product page before ordering.

The Stone Dials were reported as available through Dennison’s website in the November 2024 hands-on review. Availability is not permanent, and regional shipping, taxes and currency conversion can alter the final cost. Before checkout, confirm:
- That the listing is for the original Stone Dials reference you want, rather than a later ALD model.
- Which dial photograph represents the actual watch and whether natural variation is disclosed.
- The case finish, strap color and 20mm width.
- The warranty start date, return terms and where service or battery replacement must be performed.
- The shipping origin, import charges and total delivered price for your country.
Verdict
The Dennison ALD Stone Dials succeeds by making the dial material and sculpted case do the talking. At just over 6mm thick, it has the convenience of a quartz dress watch but the visual individuality of a one-off stone object. Choose the actual pattern carefully, budget for a possible 20mm strap swap, and treat the published price and availability as time-sensitive rather than fixed.
