The Casio Edifice EFK-100 is the first mechanical-movement watch in the EDIFICE line and Casio’s first timepiece with a mechanical movement, according to Casio. It pairs an automatic movement with manual winding and motorsport-inspired styling; whether a model has genuine forged carbon depends on the reference. Casio publishes a broad accuracy range of -35 to +45 seconds per day, so its specifications describe an entry into mechanical watchmaking, not quartz-like precision.
Why the EFK-100 matters to Casio
EDIFICE is built around Casio’s “Speed & Intelligence” identity and motorsport design. The EFK-100 brings a mechanical movement to the line for the first time. Casio says the movement combines automatic winding with manual winding, a fit for the sense of control the brand associates with car enthusiasts.
That makes the EFK-100 a notable change in the EDIFICE lineup, rather than simply another dial treatment. Casio presents it as a watch for drivers and car enthusiasts, with material choices and mechanical operation supporting that design intent.

- Water resistance up to 10 bar leaves you free to focus on more exciting things, whether outdoor activities, watersports, or just enjoying your day-to-day.
Which EFK-100 model uses forged carbon?
The material depends on the reference. The CD has a forged-carbon dial, the XPB has forged carbon in both its case and dial, and the D models use electroformed dials that reproduce a forged-carbon texture. The D models should not be described as having forged-carbon dials.
| Reference | Dial and case material details | Band |
|---|---|---|
| EFK-100D-2A, EFK-100D-3A, EFK-100D-7A | Metal case; electroformed dial with forged-carbon-like texture | Solid stainless-steel band |
| EFK-100CD-1A | Metal case; forged-carbon dial | Solid stainless-steel band |
| EFK-100XPB-1A | Forged-carbon case and dial | Urethane band with tri-fold deployment buckle |
The initial global release listed the CD in black and D models in blue, green, and white. Casio says the CD’s forged-carbon dial has a random fiber pattern, so the surface can vary from one example to another. Casio describes forged carbon in terms of low weight and strength; those descriptions are manufacturer claims, not independent material-test results.

What to consider before buying
The published specifications make the EFK-100’s mechanical character clear: it offers automatic and manual winding, a date, hacking seconds, and approximately 40 hours of power reserve. The specified mean daily rate is -35 to +45 seconds, a broad range for shoppers accustomed to the accuracy of Casio quartz watches. The dossier contains no independent test results for individual examples.
Model selection is primarily a choice of material, band, and case size: CD and D variants are 39 mm in diameter, while the XPB is 40 mm. The dossier does not establish how these watches wear on different wrists or how their bands feel in everyday use, so those judgments should be made in person where possible.

The Casio Edifice EFK-100 stands out because it brings a mechanical movement to EDIFICE and, according to Casio, marks Casio’s first mechanical-movement timepiece. Its appeal depends on the details of the reference: the D models offer carbon-look electroformed dials, the CD adds a forged-carbon dial, and the XPB uses forged carbon in both case and dial. Consider the broad published accuracy range and verify the local model and price before buying.
