The Louis Vuitton and Kari Voutilainen LVKV-02 GMR 6 is a five-watch collaboration that pairs an Escale-inspired travel-watch design with a hand-wound, dual-time movement made in the Voutilainen workshop. Fratello’s Robert-Jan Broer reported seeing it at its launch in Thailand; his hands-on impression was that the dial looked brighter and more vibrant in person than in press images.
A five-piece meeting of two watchmaking teams
Louis Vuitton says the LVKV-02 GMR 6 was designed and developed with master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen, combining the Voutilainen workshop with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The limited edition comprises five watches and draws on the design language of the 2024 Escale.
Fratello presents the watch as a travel watch and places the Escale in Louis Vuitton’s travel-watch lineage. That is the publication’s framing of the design context; the practical travel function is visible in the separate displays for local and home time.
How the dual-time display works
Hodinkee explains that the central hour hand indicates local time, while a 24-hour disc at 6 o’clock is intended to keep track of home time. According to Hodinkee, pressing the crown adjusts the local hour hand, allowing it to be changed for a new time zone without losing the home-time reference. Hodinkee also interprets “R” in GMR as referring to the retrograde power-reserve indicator and “6” as the position of the home-time display.

Case, materials and dimensions
The case combines a satin-finished tantalum mid-case with platinum bezel, lugs, crown and caseback; Fratello also reports a platinum pin buckle. Louis Vuitton lists the case at 40.5 mm in diameter and 12.44 mm thick. Fratello’s 2025 launch coverage gives the same diameter but reports 12.54 mm thickness, a 0.10 mm discrepancy between the sources.
Fratello reports a sapphire crystal and a water-resistance rating of 3 ATM. The Japanese launch release describes that rating as 3 atmospheres (30 m) and cautions that it is for splash resistance: the watch should not be submerged. The rating should not be read as a promise that it is suitable for swimming.
A hand-crafted dial and movement
Fratello describes a gold dial with hand guilloché, white-gold Roman numerals and a hand-painted hour circle. The 24-hour home-time disc includes an enameled day/night indication. Broer’s reported launch-event impression was that the colors looked brighter and more vibrant in person than in press images, particularly in the miniature painting and day/night display.
The hand-wound GMR 6 movement was designed and produced in the Voutilainen workshop, according to Fratello. Its local-time hand, home-time disc and power-reserve display are supported by a movement whose details Fratello reports as follows:

The caseback is platinum, and Fratello’s introduction also notes hand finishing of the case. The bespoke trunk made for the watch extends the collaboration’s presentation beyond the object itself; the launch coverage treats the case and trunk as part of the project’s craft emphasis.
Edition size and launch price
Fratello’s April 14, 2025 report says the edition consisted of five watches priced at €550,000 each, alongside two prototypes for the manufacturers. That is the reported launch price, not a current offer or a verified resale value. Current inventory, resale availability and transaction prices are not established by the cited coverage.
