What is the MB&F HM8 Mark 2?
It is an automatic wristwatch in MB&F’s automotive-inspired driver’s-watch lineage. Its low, sculpted body is designed to bring to mind a small performance car rather than a conventional round watch. Reporting on the model connects its design to the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Abarth 750 Zagato Double Bubble; Fratello’s account describes the latter as the Fiat Zagato Double Bubble.
The car-like shape is functional as well as visual: the time display faces outward from the front edge of the case, so the wearer can read it with a glance toward the wrist rather than looking down at a standard dial.
How does the HM8 Mark 2 display the time?
The display is mechanical, not digital or electronic. Its hour and minute discs sit horizontally inside the watch. Two reflective sapphire prisms redirect the numerals toward the front-facing display, where integrated magnifying lenses help make them legible.

Monochrome Watches reports a 42-part case built around a Grade 5 titanium chassis, with CarbonMacrolon body panels. The 2023 green and white versions use the same reported dimensions and construction.

Automatic movement
The movement combines a display module developed by MB&F with a Girard-Perregaux base calibre. Monochrome lists 247 components, 30 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and an approximately 42-hour power reserve. The rotor is made of 22-karat gold and shaped like a battle-axe.
