The Omega Aqua Terra Shades collection pairs colorful dials with 34 mm and 38 mm steel cases, and its 2023 launch-era line-up also included two solid-gold versions. Those gold watches are distinct references: a 34 mm Moonshine gold model with a green dial and strap, and a 38 mm Sedna gold model with a sandstone dial, diamond-set bezel and gold bracelet. The details and prices below reflect a May 2023 report, not a verified current Omega catalogue.

What is the Aqua Terra Shades collection?

Shades is a colorful sub-collection of Omega’s Seamaster Aqua Terra. In a hands-on article published May 9, 2023, watch journalist Brice Goulard described ten steel time-and-date references, divided between 34 mm and 38 mm cases, with colors drawn from ocean and earth tones. That article also covered the two solid-gold models discussed below. Monochrome Watches’ May 2023 article is the basis for the launch-era details here; it does not establish today’s range, stock or pricing.

Goulard wrote, “Additionally, Omega is releasing two new models crafted from solid gold.” The sentence referred to the collection’s two gold additions as described in that May 2023 article.

Which colors were offered in steel?

The 2023 article lists five dial colors for each case size. Sandstone is the only color shared between the two lists.

38 mm Atlantic Blue, Bay Green, Sandstone, Saffron and Terracotta Sharper, triangular applied markers 12.3 mm thick; 44.9 mm lug-to-lug

These dimensions and color lists are those reported in 2023, not independently verified specifications for every currently sold reference. The article describes the two sizes as having their own dial and color treatments. Its characterizations of 34 mm as “feminine” and 38 mm as “unisex” are editorial labels, not technical limits on who can wear either size.

How are the Shades dials and cases finished?

The steel models are described as having brass dials with outward sunray brushing and lacquer. The article says Omega used physical vapor deposition (PVD) for some earthy shades, including Terracotta, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) for aquatic shades such as Sea Blue. The cases are fully polished; the steel watches have a three-link bracelet and butterfly clasp.

Both sizes place the date at 6 o’clock. The article notes that Omega added a metallic frame around the 38 mm models’ date window after the initial presentation.

What are the reported steel specifications?

Monochrome Watches reported the following specifications for the steel sizes in 2023. They should be read as article-era figures, rather than confirmation of current reference specifications.

How do the two solid-gold models differ?

The two references share calibre 8801 in the 2023 report but differ in case size, alloy, dial, bezel and how they sit on the wrist. The reported prices in the table are historical euro prices from that article, not current quotes.

Detail 34 mm Moonshine gold 38 mm Sedna gold
Reference 220.53.34.20.10.001 220.55.38.20.09.001
Case and alloy 18k Moonshine gold Sedna gold
Dial Lagoon-green, CVD-treated, sun-brushed and lacquered Sandstone, CVD-treated
Bezel Not described as diamond-set in the 2023 article Set with 46 diamonds
Markers and date Rounded markers; date at 6 o’clock Rounded markers; circular date window
Strap or bracelet Matching green strap with gold folding clasp Solid-gold bracelet
Movement Calibre 8801, with an 18k gold rotor and balance bridge Calibre 8801
Price reported in May 2023 EUR 18,100 EUR 42,800

The article characterizes Moonshine as Omega’s yellow-gold alloy and Sedna as its red-gold alloy, and describes both as resistant to fading. Those alloy descriptions are attributed to the 2023 report, not to a current Omega technical page. The article-era steel price was EUR 7,100; it is likewise historical and does not establish a current price or region-specific offer.

What can—and can’t—be concluded about buying one now?

The May 2023 article reported that steel models were available through boutiques and retailers at that time, but it does not verify present-day availability, current prices or whether any of these references remain in Omega’s line-up. Check Omega or an authorized retailer for current reference-level specifications, regional pricing and stock before making a purchase decision.
