The YEMA Urban Field is a hand-wound, time-only field-style watch introduced in 2023. It was offered in 37.5 mm and 40 mm cases, with a Sellita SW210-1b movement and a choice of dial colors and strap or bracelet configurations. The most useful decision is likely case fit: the smaller version has a reported 45 mm lug-to-lug length, compared with 48 mm for the larger one.
What the YEMA Urban Field is
YEMA introduced the Urban Field in 2023 as a hand-wound mechanical watch. It displays hours, minutes, and central seconds, without a date. The Japanese launch announcement is dated June 13, 2023, and identifies it as a new hand-wound mechanical model (YEMA Japan’s announcement).
Fratello’s 2023 hands-on report describes a sandblasted dial with printed numerals and markers, dauphine hands, and Super-LumiNova BGW9. Its styling pairs a field-watch layout with polished case surfaces. That finish is a matter of taste: the Fratello reviewer liked the watch’s wearability and variety, but personally found the polished look less appealing.

Choosing between 37.5 mm and 40 mm
The diameter difference is 2.5 mm, but the reported lug-to-lug measurements also differ by 3 mm. That makes lug-to-lug length a useful comparison if you are concerned about how the watch spans your wrist. Case shape, wrist shape, and personal preference still affect how a watch wears, so the measurements cannot determine fit for everyone.

These are starting points, not wrist-size rules. If possible, compare both versions in person or try a watch with similar dimensions. A forum discussion titled “what is your experience with 37.5mm /40mm” is anecdotal rather than representative fit data (Reddit discussion).

Dials, bracelets, and strap fit
The reported launch dial palette ranged from silvery white and golden brown to green, black, and blue. Fratello described a choice of Bonklip-style or beads-of-rice steel bracelet, as well as a leather strap. The report’s reviewer found the beads-of-rice bracelet visually loud; that is an individual reaction, not a universal drawback.
Fratello reports 20 mm lug spacing, which is the relevant measurement when considering a replacement strap. Confirm fit for the specific reference before buying: lug width alone does not establish compatibility with every strap or bracelet, and the launch report does not verify present-day availability of replacement bracelets.

What it cost at launch—and what that does not tell you now
Fratello reported 2023 launch prices of €949 on leather, €999 on a Bonklip-style bracelet, and €1,129 on a beads-of-rice bracelet. These are historical euro prices for the reported configurations, not current prices.
Launch-era coverage also gave US prices of US$1,099 for the Bonklip configuration and US$1,249 for beads-of-rice, with shipping expected from the end of June 2023 (Time+Tide’s 2023 launch description). Monochrome reported that the first 300 pieces were expected for delivery at the end of June 2023 (Monochrome’s launch coverage). These are dated launch details, not evidence of current production, stock, or delivery timing.

Who should consider the Urban Field
- Consider it if you want a mechanical field-style watch with a hand-wound movement and time-only display.
- Compare the two sizes carefully if a few millimeters of diameter or lug-to-lug length affect your comfort or preferred proportions.
- Choose by configuration if the dial color, leather strap, Bonklip-style bracelet, or beads-of-rice bracelet is central to your preference.
- Look elsewhere if you specifically want an automatic movement, a date display, or a less polished appearance.
Fratello’s hands-on account presents the Urban Field as a notably wearable option with several looks, while also making clear that its polished surfaces and bracelet styling will not suit every taste. Whether it is a good buy now depends on finding a current listing and verifying its price, seller, fit, and terms; the launch-era evidence does not settle those questions.
