Its defining change is subtle from the front: Chopard moved the reserve indicator from the dial to the movement side, where it can be read through the sapphire caseback. The watch is offered in 18K rose gold and platinum, with different dial colors for each.

Chopard lists two precious-metal references. Their shared dimensions and movement make the choice primarily about case metal, dial color, and the price and availability of each version in your region.

Both official product listings specify sapphire crystals, interchangeable straps, and 30 m water resistance. That rating is a specification, not an activity recommendation; the product information reviewed does not establish whether Chopard recommends swimming or other water activities.
What changed on the Mark IV?
The headline update is the location of the power-reserve display. Earlier Quattro versions placed it on the dial; on the Mark IV, the indicator sits on the movement side and is visible through the transparent caseback. The dial is consequently less crowded, while the back of the watch carries an additional functional display.

There is a practical trade-off: to check the reserve, you need to turn the watch over. Daan de Groot, writing for Fratello, also notes that the indicator’s orientation makes it less immediately convenient to read while winding than a conventional dial-side display. The change favors a cleaner face and a more technically expressive caseback over instant glances at the reserve.
How the nine-day movement works
Chopard identifies the Mark IV movement as hand-wound calibre 98.09-L, an evolution of the L.U.C Quattro architecture. Four barrels are arranged as two stacked pairs. Chopard says the mainsprings total 1,885 metres in length and specifies approximately 216 hours—nine days—of power reserve.

For the Mark IV’s calibre designation, Chopard’s official product pages specify 98.09-L. Hodinkee’s article body also discusses 98.09-L, although its specification block labels the movement 98.06-L; that conflicting block should not be treated as confirmation of a different Mark IV calibre.
How does it wear?
Chopard gives the case dimensions as 39 mm across and 10.40 mm thick. Fratello reports a 46.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement. In his 2025 hands-on report, reviewer Daan de Groot says the sloped lugs wore well on his 17 cm wrist. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of fit on every wrist; trying the watch on is the most reliable way to judge its proportions.

De Groot describes the rose-gold version’s dial as dark blue and the platinum version’s as ice blue. The shift in metal and dial changes the watch’s overall character, while the case size and movement remain the same. The back also provides a view of the movement and reserve display. As de Groot puts it, “Besides, checking the power reserve now becomes a perfect excuse to take another look at that beautifully finished movement.” That is his assessment of the finish, rather than a manufacturer specification.

The only prices established here are Fratello’s May 2, 2025 launch figures: €41,300 for rose gold reference 161954-5001 and €51,400 for platinum reference 161954-9001. They should not be read as current local retail prices or as evidence of an authorized-dealer discount. Chopard’s product pages do not state a current price in the reviewed information and direct prospective buyers to a boutique, noting that inventory changes frequently.
