In Jorg Weppelink’s hands-on review, that conspicuous, late-1980s/1990s-inspired look is the point—not a bid for universal approval. Beneath it is a 42 mm automatic caller GMT with a 100 m water-resistance rating.
What makes the Globe Green stand out?
The signature is the world map, rendered in glossy gold tone against green. Gold-tone hands and details continue the contrast, while the black ceramic bezel carries 24 city names. The case is stainless steel with gold-plated crown and screws; gold-plated intermediate links run through the five-row bracelet. It is a composed, high-contrast design, but not a subtle one.
Weppelink calls the look divisive and connects its bold green-and-gold treatment to his memories of the 1990s. His short verdict is personal: “It’s a watch that you either love or hate.” He also reports that the reflective, visually busy dial remained easier to read than he expected. That is his wearing impression, not a general readability test.
How does it wear?
The listed dimensions are 42 mm in diameter, 48 mm lug to lug, and 10.8 mm thick. Weppelink says the slim profile and flowing case shape made it feel closer to a 40 mm watch on his wrist than its diameter suggests. He also praises the bracelet’s comfort. Those are subjective impressions; wrist size and fit will affect how the watch feels to another wearer.

- Tissot Classic Dream Automatic Silver Dial Two-tone Men's Watch T129.407.22.031.01
The bracelet has five rows and a butterfly clasp. Weppelink notes that the clasp closes in only one orientation, a small practical quirk to be aware of when fastening it.
What does the GMT do?
The 1911 Globe uses a caller-style GMT setup. Its independently adjustable 24-hour hand can indicate a second time zone, and the bidirectional 24-hour bezel provides another reference for reading it. The central hands show the primary time; the dial also has a 24-hour day/night scale and a date window at 6 o’clock.

- Powered by the Orient F6722 In-House Japanese Automatic / Hand Winding Movement
- 50 Meter Water Resistance (164 feet): In general, suitable for everyday life such as washing hands and showering
- Case Diameter 41.6 mm (without crown)
- Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal
This is not a flyer GMT: the local hour hand does not jump independently for quick adjustment when traveling across time zones. The distinction matters if you want to change local time without disturbing the watch’s other time indication. The movement is visible through a sapphire case back.

How does it relate to Ebel’s Voyager?
The Globe revisits the world-map motif of Ebel’s Voyager, introduced in 1989, in a contemporary 1911 collection watch. The earlier Voyager appeared in multiple case and dial treatments, so the Globe is a revival of a design idea rather than a one-to-one reproduction of a single vintage configuration.

Ebel also offers the Globe Black, reference 1216666. It pairs a black dial with an all-steel presentation; the Globe Green reviewed here combines green and gold-tone accents. The useful choice is between that more restrained steel-and-black contrast and the more conspicuous green-and-gold treatment—not between different GMT functions established by the cited launch and review coverage.

Fratello reported a price of €3,600 for the green reference in November 2024. WatchTime’s September 2024 launch coverage reported €3,600 for both Globe variants. Those are historical, launch-era reports, not a verified current price. Another 2024 article quoted CHF 3,000 for the steel version and CHF 3,700 for the two-tone version; those figures are in a different currency and market context, so they should not be compared directly with the euro prices.
