The Schofield Patinated Bronze Beater B3 pairs a chemically darkened bronze case with a blue-and-gold dial, but its 44 mm width and 15 mm listed height give it a substantial wrist presence. Schofield’s product page currently marks it sold out. The watch’s published movement and water-resistance specifications also conflict with figures in a 2023 hands-on review, so those details need to be read with their sources attached.
What the Patinated Bronze Beater B3 is
Schofield identifies this watch as Batch 3 of its Bronze Beater, also called the B3 or BBB3. It is an everyday-oriented bronze watch with a pared-back time display and a small “Sign-of-Life” seconds indicator at the dial center. The blue dial and gold-toned details stand out against the dark case finish.
Schofield’s timeline records the B3’s arrival in 2018/Q3: Schofield Watch Company timeline. The model was also offered with a raw bronze case; that is a separate finish from the chemically treated patinated version.
How the patinated case is made and how it wears
Schofield says it force-patinates the case with a coarse medium to encourage oxidation, dips it in baths of acid and dye, then washes and burnishes it. The process is intended to stabilize the finish. Schofield describes the patina as permanent, while noting that scratches and the wearer’s chemistry can add character over time. Burnishing exposes brighter bronze at selected edges, and further wear can make those edges show more polish.

In his June 17, 2023 review, Fratello’s Thor Svaboe described the patina on his example as dark and even. He expected the sharp edges to become brighter with wear, and praised the contrast between the case and the blue-and-gold dial. Size, fit and wrist presence
Schofield lists a 44 mm case diameter and 15 mm height excluding the lugs. Fratello measured its reviewed example at 44 mm across, approximately 52 mm lug-to-lug, and 14.8 mm thick. Schofield also lists a 42 mm bezel, a 35.5 mm dial window, and a weight of 128 g including the strap.
Svaboe found the watch substantial and noticeable on the wrist, while reporting that its flat caseback and curved lugs helped it hug his wrist. That is one reviewer’s fit experience; wrist shape and size will affect how a 44 mm watch with an approximately 52 mm lug-to-lug span sits.

Movement and water resistance: the published figures conflict
The two sources do not agree on the movement, power reserve or water resistance. Neither explains the discrepancy, so it is not possible to tell from these listings whether it reflects a revision, a variant or an error.

Schofield lists a two-year warranty; Fratello reports a two-year international guarantee for its reviewed watch. For a specific B3, especially a pre-owned example, check its paperwork and confirm the movement and water-resistance rating with the seller rather than assuming either set of figures applies.

Strap fit and replacement checks
Schofield says buyers can choose a strap. Fratello reports that its example came on a strap measuring 24 mm at the lugs and tapering to 22 mm at the buckle, with a tang buckle. That review does not establish the fit of every B3 or every replacement strap.
- Confirm the lug width on the individual watch before ordering.
- Check the buckle width and whether you intend to reuse the original buckle.
- Do not assume a strap described as 24 mm will fit the watch’s buckle end without checking its taper and hardware.
Availability and historical price
Schofield’s current product listing marks the Patinated Bronze Beater B3 “SOLD OUT”: Schofield Patinated Bronze Beater B3 listing. Fratello reported a price of £3,348 including UK VAT in June 2023. That is the price at the time of that review, not a current offer. The available sources do not establish current secondary-market stock or pricing.
