The hands-on watch was the Tropical Brown U1-GMT-DHBR; the manufacturer specifications cited here are for the black U1-GMT-DHB, so details such as color and strap should not be conflated. For a fixed second time zone, the no-date watch makes sense. For travel where you want to adjust local time quickly and keep the date in view, its caller-style GMT is less convenient.
What the hands-on review reveals
In his August 6, 2025 hands-on review, Jorg Weppelink describes the Heritage GMT Diver as a restrained vintage reinterpretation of the minimalist Modello Uno. Cream-toned luminous details and matching bezel markings bring the retro character; that is the reviewer’s design judgment, not a measured specification. He particularly liked the Tropical Brown and Vintage Navy versions, though he wished the brown dial and strap were a darker chocolate shade.
The watch looked substantial to Weppelink without seeming overly large. He reports that it fit his 18.5 cm wrist well, while noting that the straight-sided case profile may be less suitable for smaller wrists. The 24-hour bezel felt pleasant to operate, with positive feedback and some play; he says the 120-click bezel lined up correctly on his example.
How the GMT works—and who it suits
The watch uses a caller-style GMT layout: its 24-hour hand adjusts independently, while the main hands continue to show local time. That makes it useful for keeping a second time zone displayed while you remain in one place. It is not the more travel-focused arrangement in which the local hour hand can be moved independently as you change time zones.

There is no date display. Weppelink says that makes the watch less suitable for travelers who need to keep track of the date while moving across time zones, but considers it effective as a static second-time-zone watch: “As a static GMT, keeping track of two designated time zones, it works well.”
Dimensions and specifications
The official technical sheet and product page cover the black U1-GMT-DHB, not the Tropical Brown U1-GMT-DHBR handled by Fratello. The table separates those sources where possible; it does not imply that every colorway has an identical specification.

The accuracy range, water resistance, and testing statements in the black reference’s technical sheet are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent test results. The article reports the same water-resistance rating for the brown watch, but the colors and strap descriptions differ; do not assume one reference’s appearance applies to the other.
What strap fits the Heritage GMT Diver?
Both documented versions use a strap that is 22 mm wide at the lugs and tapers to 20 mm. The DHB sheet specifies a two-piece quick-release TPU strap; Fratello describes a brown quick-release TPU strap for the DHBR. Width alone does not establish that every 22 mm replacement will fit: check the attachment and quick-release arrangement as well as the taper before buying.

Availability and price evidence is tied to different references and dates. At the time checked for this article, the official U1-GMT-DHB product page showed €915 with tax and duties included and marked the watch sold out. Fratello’s August 2025 review listed €750 plus VAT for the reviewed U1-GMT-DHBR. Those figures have different tax presentation and are not directly comparable current offers. Check the exact reference, local price, and stock with UNIMATIC or a seller before purchasing.

It is a strong fit if you want a distinctive, minimalist diver with a vintage touch and a straightforward way to display a fixed second time zone. The 40 mm case, 49 mm lug-to-lug, independently adjustable GMT hand, and substantial water-resistance rating make the proposition clear. Its main functional compromise is the combination of a caller-style GMT and no date: travelers who frequently reset local time or rely on a date display may prefer a different layout. On fit, use the lug-to-lug measurement and the reviewer’s 18.5 cm wrist example as context, not a guarantee; the straight case sides may wear differently on smaller wrists.
