“I have the power!” is He-Man’s transformation-associated battle cry: Prince Adam says it as he becomes He-Man in Masters of the Universe. The phrase is tied to that change, not just a general slogan about strength.
What does “I have the power!” mean in He-Man?
The line marks Prince Adam’s transformation into He-Man. Mattel’s official description for its movie-tie-in Power Sword connects the toy to the moment Adam becomes He-Man and calls the words “I have the power!” his battle cry. Mattel’s product page presents the sword as a way for fans to recreate that transformation moment.

How did the phrase originate?
Mark Ellis, identified as Mattel’s director of marketing, recalled that power was central to the toy-line concept and that the phrase emerged as the line developed. In an interview hosted by HE-MAN.ORG, Ellis said, “As the line developed, the phrase ‘I have the power’ was born to emphasis that point.” The wording “to emphasis” is reproduced exactly from the interview. This is Ellis’s recollection in an interview hosted by a fan site, not independent proof that he alone coined the phrase. Read the interview with Mark Ellis.
