The Holthinrichs Signature Ornament is worth considering if you want a sculptural, titanium independent automatic whose appeal comes from its case, lugs and layered dial rather than from an in-house movement. Its movement is a Sellita SW300, a known Swiss automatic, fitted with a customised rotor. The reported figures are a 38.5 mm case, a 46 mm lug-to-lug span and a launch-era price of €3,500 excluding tax for the metal-dial version. The main decision is whether the strong curvature and extended lugs suit your wrist, and whether you want the standard CNC-machined model or the more expensive, limited Signature Lab releases.
Case, lugs and dimensions
The Signature Ornament’s defining feature is its sculptural case in Grade 5 titanium. The lugs flow out of the case body, connect beneath it and sweep along its outline, so the case reads as one continuous form rather than a round middle with attached horns. The case combines raw and brushed finishes, which breaks up the surface and keeps the titanium from looking uniformly grey.
The dimensions below are those reported by Fratello Watches in its 2025 hands-on review. They are the publication’s measurements, not independently verified figures.
| Specification | Signature Ornament (as reported) |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 38.5 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 46 mm |
| Thickness | 9.85 mm, including a 2 mm sapphire crystal |
| Case material | Grade 5 titanium, raw and brushed finishes |
| Crystal | Sapphire with anti-reflective coating |
| Case back | Transparent |
| Water resistance | 50 m |
| Strap | Epsom leather |
| Lug width | Not stated in the cited reporting |
Diameter alone understates the footprint. A 46 mm lug-to-lug on a 38.5 mm case means the lugs extend roughly 7.5 mm beyond the case’s width, so the watch is judged on its wrist span as much as on its face. Whether that reads as elegant or dominant depends on wrist size and on how much you like a strongly sculpted profile. The fit judgement here is editorial interpretation of these measurements and the hands-on account, not a fit test. Because the lug width is not stated, a replacement strap cannot be matched by measurement from the available reporting; check the lug width on your own watch before buying a strap.

Dial and finishing
Fratello describes two Signature Ornament dial versions. Both use a layered construction: a frosted base in precious-metal or rhodium tones sits under a sapphire layer, and the hour indexes float above it. That layering gives depth and changes the look as the light moves, which is more of the watch’s character than the movement is. The Delft Blue version uses a ceramic dial and is priced separately (see the pricing section below).
Movement: Sellita SW300 with a custom rotor
The Signature Ornament uses a Sellita SW300 automatic movement. The rotor is customised to echo the dial markers, which is a visible detail through the transparent case back. Holthinrichs did not fit an in-house calibre to the standard model. The trade-off is clear: a widely used Swiss automatic is familiar to independent watchmakers and easier to service, but it does not carry the prestige of a manufacture movement.
Published power reserve figures differ between sources, and the difference reflects the version or the watch examined rather than a contradiction to settle.

Signature Ornament versus the Signature Lab Series
The Signature Lab Series is a separate line of experimental releases, not a trim level of the standard model. The main differences are in how the case is made and how many pieces are produced.
| Feature | Signature Ornament (standard) | Signature Lab Series |
|---|---|---|
| Case production | CNC-machined Grade 5 titanium | 3D-printed Grade 5 titanium with manual finishing |
| Lugs | Flowing lugs connecting beneath the case | Skeletonized lugs |
| Edition size | Not stated as limited in the cited reporting | Launch series: 30 pieces. Signature Ornament Lab Series 1.24: 79 pieces |
| Reported price (excluding tax) | €3,500 (metal dial, Fratello 2025) | Launch series price not stated in the cited reporting. Lab 1.24: €5,900 (Fratello 2025) |
| Dimensions | 38.5 mm × 46 mm × 9.85 mm | Not stated in the cited reporting |
The two Lab releases should not be treated as one product. They are separate editions with different dates and prices.

The launch Signature Lab Series (30 pieces)
Fratello’s 2024 launch report announced a 30-piece limit for the Signature Lab Series. Fratello reported in March 2025 that this first series had sold out. If you are looking at this edition, you are buying on the secondary market, and the price and authenticity checks that come with that are your responsibility.
The Signature Ornament Lab Series 1.24 (79 pieces)
The 1.24 copper and patina version is a later, separately reported release. Fratello reported a limit of 79 pieces and a price of €5,900 excluding tax in 2025. It is the most expensive Signature Ornament variant in the reporting, and its edition size is the number to weigh when deciding whether to buy it.
Ornament Nouveau: a different model
The Ornament Nouveau is a separate, more expensive Holthinrichs model. It should not be confused with the Signature Ornament. According to the GPHG entry for that model, it has a manual-winding in-house movement, an 83-hour power reserve and a 20-piece series. Those figures describe the Ornament Nouveau, not the Signature Ornament, and they do not carry across to the SW300-powered watch.

Collective Horology
Collective Horology identifies itself as an authorised Holthinrichs retailer and lists Signature Ornament variants. Its catalogue shows prices in US dollars. According to its page, US orders include express shipping and no additional import duties, and the watch carries a two-year manufacturer warranty. These are that retailer’s stated terms, not terms set by the brand for every market, and they may have changed since the page was published.
The In House Movement
The In House Movement lists Holthinrichs models and describes itself as an independent authorised dealer for other named watch brands. The available reporting does not confirm that it is authorised to sell Holthinrichs watches, so verify that with the brand before buying there.

Stock and marketplaces
No current stock position can be confirmed from the available reporting, and retailer pages change without notice. No Amazon listing or authorised seller for this exact watch has been confirmed, so an Amazon search should not be treated as a reliable purchase route.
The founder’s stated intent
GPHG attributes the following statement to founder Michiel Holthinrichs: “I want people to experience the emotional sensations that architecture can evoke through its spatial, structural and artisanal complexity: architecture on the wrist: That is why our watches are called after the architectural ornament.” The GPHG entry also identifies his architectural background, which explains the sculptural language of the case and lugs.
Is the Signature Ornament worth it?
For a buyer who values sculptural design, titanium construction and a standard Swiss automatic over an in-house movement, the Signature Ornament makes a coherent case at €3,500 excluding tax. Its strength is the case and dial: the flowing titanium form and layered dial are distinctive, and the custom rotor adds a detail that is visible without being fussy.
It is a weaker choice if you want an in-house calibre, if you prefer a compact wrist footprint, or if you need a guaranteed current price and stock. Before buying, confirm the reserve figure for your specific movement variant, check the lug fit against your wrist, and verify the price and tax treatment with an authorised dealer. Among the Lab releases, the 30-piece launch series is no longer available from the brand, and the 79-piece 1.24 is priced at €5,900 excluding tax, so it is a collector’s purchase rather than a default choice.
- Choose the standard Signature Ornament if you want the design at the lowest reported price.
- Choose the Delft Blue if you prefer a ceramic dial and accept the higher reported price of €3,750 excluding VAT.
- Choose a Signature Lab release only if you want the 3D-printed, skeletonised construction and can accept a limited edition at a higher price.
The Ornament Nouveau is outside this comparison; it is a separate model with its own movement and edition size.
