The 2026 black-dial TUDOR Black Bay 58 pairs a redesigned 39 mm case with Master Chronometer certification. “Back in black” means this update comes in a black-dial configuration—not that the Black Bay 58 or TUDOR’s black watches had disappeared.
Which new Tudor Black Bay 58 METAS black dial is this?
It is the 2026 black-dial update to the Black Bay 58, the mid-size diver line TUDOR introduced in 2018. It is distinct from the Black Bay Ceramic, a separate model that was previously TUDOR’s METAS-certified Black Bay. TUDOR identifies the new watch as a Master Chronometer and says each fully assembled watch is tested in Switzerland by the Federal Institute of Metrology, or METAS. What changed in the 2026 Black Bay 58?
The case measures 39 mm across and 11.7 mm thick. TUDOR also describes a revised case shape, bezel, crown, and dial layout. The dial now has two lines of text, in keeping with the brand’s Master Chronometer models. These are documented design and specification changes; they do not, by themselves, establish how the watch will feel on a particular wrist.
What does METAS certification add?
Master Chronometer is the certification designation attached to this Black Bay 58 update. TUDOR’s launch material says the assembled watch is tested by METAS in Switzerland. For context, TUDOR’s explanation of the certification on the separate Black Bay Ceramic page says it covers key functional characteristics including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness, and power reserve. How does the Black Bay 58 black METAS compare with earlier versions?
The 2026 model’s main distinctions from earlier Black Bay 58 versions are its Master Chronometer certification, revised case and design details, and two-line dial text.
