Merci Instruments is a Paris-based watch label. The Beaumarchais is its six-watch automatic collection, with versions named Æon Blue, Horae, Cosmora, Æther, Auguste and Singularis. Merci Paris describes the watches as assembled in France; that wording does not establish that the movement or every component is French-made. Merci Paris’s collection page lists all six models.
The shared design pairs a compact, cushion-like steel case with angular facets and an octagonal bezel. Hodinkee characterized the shape as 1970s-inspired, while Fratello’s Daan de Groot described the case as a combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The 40- versus 42-hour power-reserve discrepancy is a difference in published figures, not evidence of two tested performance results. The manufacturer’s listed value is 40 hours.

Merci Paris confirms the six names and price, while the descriptions below draw on Fratello’s review by Daan de Groot and, for the lume distinction, Gear Patrol’s March 26, 2026 coverage. Dial details are visual descriptions rather than measured legibility tests.

Fit, strap and practical considerations
The 36 mm case size and Fratello-reported 45 mm lug-to-lug provide useful dimensions for comparing the watch with one you already wear. They do not establish how it will feel on a particular wrist; the case shape, strap and personal fit preferences matter, and no independent wear test is documented here.
Fratello reports an 18/16 mm strap width and quick-release spring bars. The taper means a replacement strap should match both the lug width and buckle width, and quick-release hardware must suit the watch. Confirm the exact fit before ordering rather than assuming every 18 mm strap will work.

Is the Merci Instruments Beaumarchais worth considering?
The collection makes most sense for someone seeking a relatively small automatic watch with a faceted, geometric case and a choice of markedly different dials. At the published €470 price, the practical choice is not between different movements or case sizes: it is between dial style, marker type, lume and strap color.
- Choose Æon Blue if luminous numerals are important.
- Choose Horae or Auguste for a silver dial, deciding between geometric markers with a blue seconds hand and black Roman numerals.
