Casio does not publish a numeric accuracy rating for G-SHOCK wrist heart-rate tracking, and says the displayed readings are estimates whose accuracy is not guaranteed. Treat them as recreational reference data—not as medical measurements. The often-quoted 30–220 bpm figure for the GBD-H2000 is its measurement range, not a claim about how close a reading is to your actual heart rate.
What does Casio say about accuracy?
Casio describes the heart-rate values shown by the watch as approximate. Its GBD-H1000 accuracy FAQ says the data is for reference and its accuracy is not guaranteed. The Module 3554 operating guide similarly states: “All of this means that heart rate values displayed by the watch are approximate, and no guarantees are made concerning their accuracy.”

Those statements do not provide an error margin, such as a number of beats per minute or a percentage. Nor do the official sources provide clinical validation or a head-to-head test against an ECG, chest strap, or other wearable. There is therefore no supported basis here for saying a G-SHOCK is accurate within a particular number of beats, or as accurate as another kind of monitor.

How does the optical sensor estimate heart rate?
On the GBD-H2000, an optical sensor on the back of the watch shines LEDs into the skin and detects changes related to blood flow to estimate pulse. Casio’s GBD-H2000 product information describes this sensor approach. The manufacturer’s February 28, 2023 launch announcement gives a wrist heart-rate measurement range of 30–220 bpm. That is the range the feature is designed to measure; it does not say how close its readings are to a reference measurement.

Which G-SHOCK models have wrist heart-rate measurement?
Heart-rate tracking is model-specific, so check the exact model and regional specifications rather than assuming every G-SHOCK has the feature. Casio’s G-SQUAD comparison lists heart-rate monitoring for the GBD-H2000 and GBD-H1000 among the models compared. It lists the GBD-200, GBX-100, and GBA-900 without heart-rate monitoring.
The availability of a sensor confirms only that the model can provide readings; it does not establish the accuracy of those readings.

Why might a reading appear incorrect?
Casio lists several factors that can affect pulse detection in its Module 3554 guide. These include watch fit, individual wrist characteristics and condition, the type or intensity of training, and sweat, dirt, or other material around the sensor. Reduced blood flow—including in low-temperature conditions—arm tattoos, and skin products such as sunscreen or insect repellent may also make accurate detection impossible.
These are possible sources of interference, not a formula for correcting a reading. Casio does not give a universal fit adjustment or promise that changing the fit will make a particular reading correct.

Is G-SHOCK heart-rate tracking suitable for medical use?
No. Casio says the heart-rate feature is intended for recreational purposes and should not be used for medical purposes. If you need a measurement for diagnosis, treatment, or another health decision, do not rely on a G-SHOCK reading as a substitute for medical advice or an appropriate medical device.
