If you want wrist-based heart-rate and broader health features, choose the DW-H5600. If you want running metrics and a replaceable coin-cell battery with Casio’s stated approximately two-year life, the GBD-200 is the closer fit. One naming note: Casio’s official product pages call the first watch the DW-H5600, not “DW-GH5600.” The choice is about priorities, not a proven overall performance winner.
How the DW-H5600 and GBD-200 differ
| Feature | DW-H5600 | GBD-200 |
|---|---|---|
| Heart rate | Optical wrist sensor; heart-rate exercise data | Heart-rate sensor not listed in Casio’s retrieved official specification |
| Health and activity | Blood-oxygen measurement, steps, sleep and recovery information, breathing exercises, and training analysis | Step counts, activity history, and life-log information; official feature list centers on running metrics |
| Training features | Running, walking, gym workouts, and interval training | Distance, speed, pace, lap functions, auto-pause, interval timers, calorie measurement, and target alerts |
| GPS and distance | Uses the watch accelerometer for distance; paired smartphone GPS can adjust it | Uses accelerometer-based distance; paired smartphone GPS can calibrate it |
| Power | USB charging for training and smart functions; solar-assisted time display | CR2032 coin cell; Casio estimates approximately two years |
| Size and water resistance | Square G-SHOCK; listed as 200-meter water resistant | Resin case and band; 48.4 × 45.9 × 15 mm, 58 g, and listed as 200-meter water resistant |
These are manufacturer-listed features, not results from an independent head-to-head test. The specifications establish what Casio says each watch can do; they do not establish comparative sensor accuracy.

Choose the DW-H5600 for heart rate and health tracking
What it measures
The DW-H5600 has an optical sensor for heart-rate measurement and an accelerometer for steps. Casio also describes blood-oxygen measurement, sleep and recovery information, breathing exercises, and training analysis. Its activity modes include running, walking, gym workouts, and interval training, with activity records linked to the Casio app.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCasio says the blood-oxygen feature is for general health management, not diagnosing illness, and the watch is not a medical device. Treat these features as fitness and wellness tools rather than clinical measurements.

Charging and timekeeping
The DW-H5600 uses USB charging for training and smart functions, while solar assistance supports time display. Casio estimates about three hours for charging and approximately one week of continuous operation from a full charge when the watch is used for an hour daily. Those are manufacturer estimates under the stated use condition, not independent battery-test results. Casio’s solar charging estimate also depends on its specified daily indoor and weekly window-side sunlight conditions.
Choose the GBD-200 for running functions and coin-cell convenience
Running metrics
The GBD-200’s listed running functions include accelerometer-based distance, speed and pace, training displays, manual or automatic lap times, auto-pause, target alerts, and interval timers. It also records calories, steps, activity history, and life-log information. If those running-oriented measurements matter more to you than wrist heart rate and recovery features, its feature set is the more direct match.
Battery and fit
The GBD-200 uses a CR2032 battery. Casio lists an approximate two-year battery life; this is the manufacturer’s estimate, not a measured guarantee, and actual life can vary with use. Casio lists the resin watch at 58 g, with dimensions of 48.4 × 45.9 × 15 mm and a compatible band size of 145–215 mm.

Neither watch is a standalone GPS watch
Both models derive distance from the watch’s accelerometer and can use GPS from a paired smartphone to adjust or calibrate that distance. The feature descriptions do not support treating either watch as having built-in standalone GPS. If you want GPS-based distance adjustment, plan to carry a compatible paired phone and use the Casio app connection.

What 200-meter water resistance does—and does not—tell you

That specification is not, by itself, evidence that either model is suitable for every water activity, nor does it establish independently tested performance. Check the manufacturer’s guidance for the specific activity and care requirements you have in mind.
