The instrument’s design caught the partners’ attention, and Bremont developed that concept into a 300-piece production watch. The resulting MB Viper pairs an aviation-inspired dial with a 43.5 mm titanium case and Bremont’s self-winding ENG352 movement.
How the prototype became the MB Viper
In its May 26, 2023 launch article, Bremont describes the first watch not as a finished consumer model but as a test instrument. The aim was to assess the performance potential of the company’s ENG300 movement during a demanding program associated with Martin-Baker’s fighter-seat testing. Bremont says Martin-Baker supported the program.
The instrument used a functional, minimal casing and a shock-isolating mount that could be fixed to a Martin-Baker live-ejection simulator cockpit dashboard. Bremont says it was later modified with forged-carbon-fibre lugs so it could be attached to an ejection manikin. The company reports that its Anti-Shock mount protected the movement and that the instrument maintained time during the program.
Bremont says the unusual instrument’s design inspired the limited-edition MB Viper. The origin story therefore has two parts: the test instrument supplied the practical starting point, while its appearance provided the design direction for the production watch. Bremont co-founder Nick English described the wider relationship with Martin-Baker as “not a branding exercise,” but a vision of creating “the definitive aviation watch.”

What Bremont says the testing involved
Bremont’s account lists live ejection, zoom temperature climb, extreme-temperature endurance, high-altitude and salt-fog testing, as well as an ice-block freeze procedure. These are manufacturer-reported procedures and results; the launch article is not an independent test report.
- Live ejection: Bremont says a manikin was propelled from zero to 120 feet in two seconds, at forces of up to 15G.
- Simulated altitude: The company describes exposure at a simulated 100,000 feet for 60 minutes.
- Temperature exposure: Bremont reports conditions as low as -46°C and then as high as 49°C.
The prototype program concerned the ENG300 test instrument. The production MB Viper is specified with a different movement, the ENG352; the launch account should not be read as saying that the production watch itself underwent every procedure listed for the prototype instrument.

The MB Viper’s 300-piece limit and its technical specifications are stated in Bremont’s 2023 launch article. Bremont’s current limited-editions collection page offers catalog context, but it does not confirm whether the Viper is currently available. Neither source establishes a current price, so availability and price should be checked with Bremont or a seller before making a purchase decision.

For a comparison with another aviation watch, useful points are case size and materials, movement and power reserve, edition size, included straps, and the source and scope of any testing claims. The Bremont account gives a distinctive prototype history, but it does not by itself establish that the Viper is superior to another watch.
