CHANEL’s watch names are collections, not separate brands
CHANEL presents J12, PREMIÈRE, BOY·FRIEND, MONSIEUR de CHANEL and MADEMOISELLE PRIVÉ as parts of its watch portfolio. The distinctions are among collections and design signatures; the names do not indicate a group of independently operated watchmakers. How Paris design connects to Swiss production
CHANEL says its Watch Creation Studio is in Paris and is directed by Arnaud Chastaingt. Design work connects to development and assembly at the CHANEL Watch Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. In other words, the creative location and the principal watchmaking site are different parts of one production structure, rather than evidence that the watches are made in Paris. The La Chaux-de-Fonds workshops handle several important stages and components, according to CHANEL:

CHANEL says it acquired the G&F Châtelain manufacture in 1993. The company reports that nearly 300 people work in its La Chaux-de-Fonds workshops; that is a CHANEL-reported workforce figure, not an independently stated industry count. Swiss movements, external partners and an in-house caliber
CHANEL says all its watches use Swiss movements, but that does not mean every movement is designed or manufactured in-house. The company describes a mixed sourcing and development model: specialist Swiss partners contribute to particular movements, while an internal Haute Horlogerie department has developed and manufactured at least one named caliber.

These are company descriptions of particular partners and capabilities, not a claim that every CHANEL model uses the same movement or an in-house caliber. What industry export figures can—and cannot—show
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH reported that Swiss watch exports were worth CHF 25.6 billion in 2025, a 1.7% decline from 2024. Its release also reports CHF 24.4 billion in watch exports and 14.6 million exported watches in 2025, with export value down 1.7% and volume down 4.8%. These figures describe Swiss exports, not prices paid by final consumers or retail sales. The FH’s statistics and January 29, 2026 release explain the figures.

Those aggregate numbers offer sector context, not a measure of CHANEL’s sales, output or market share. The FH cautions that consolidated export figures cannot establish the performance trend of an individual company or group. They therefore cannot be used to rank CHANEL against other Swiss watchmakers.

The clearest description is an integrated luxury watch producer with a Paris creative studio, substantial Swiss workshop operations and selected collaborations with specialist movement makers. CHANEL’s collections span distinct signatures, while its manufacturing approach combines company-run capabilities with partner expertise. That evidence supports describing how CHANEL participates in Swiss watchmaking; it does not establish a comparative market position.
