That suggests roughly $100 to $200 annually for a $10,000 watch, but it is not a guaranteed rate or a national average: your quote depends on the watch, location, deductible, and coverage.
What does luxury watch insurance cost?
Allstate and Jewelers Mutual each publish guidance putting watch insurance at about 1% to 2% of the watch’s value annually. Allstate illustrates the range with a $10,000 watch costing about $100 to $200 per year. These are insurer-published estimates, not binding quotes, and no independent industry-wide national average is established by the cited material. Allstate’s watch-insurance page and Jewelers Mutual’s pricing guidance describe the range and factors affecting premiums.

Published quote examples
Allstate lists $184 per year for a $12,000 watch in Chicago, Illinois (ZIP code 60614), with a $100 deductible. It also gives an example of $440 per year for a $32,000 pair of watches in New Rochelle, New York (ZIP code 10804), with a $300 deductible. These are examples from one provider, not price predictions for other ZIP codes or insurers. Allstate’s examples show how premium, insured items, location, and deductible can differ.
What changes the premium?
Insured value
A higher insured amount generally means a higher premium. Use a defensible replacement value and ask the insurer what value basis it uses; each watch may need to be insured separately. Jewelers Mutual identifies value as a pricing factor and says it insures each piece separately. Its pricing guidance explains these points.

Location
Insurers identify location as a rating factor. The Chicago and New Rochelle examples above show why a published price from one ZIP code should not be treated as a portable quote. Allstate and Jewelers Mutual both identify location as relevant to cost. Allstate and Jewelers Mutual describe pricing factors.
Deductible
A higher deductible can reduce the premium, while a lower one can raise it, according to Jewelers Mutual. Compare the annual premium with the amount you would have to pay out of pocket on a claim; a lower yearly price may not be the better fit if the deductible is much higher. Jewelers Mutual’s guidance discusses the deductible trade-off.
Coverage and policy structure
Price also depends on what the policy covers, its limits, exclusions, and claim-settlement terms. An existing homeowners, renters, or condo policy may cover a watch as personal property, but a jewelry or watch sub-limit and the policy deductible may restrict that protection. A watch whose value exceeds the applicable limit may be separately scheduled; Progressive’s guide, updated June 25, 2026, describes this option. Progressive’s jewelry-insurance guide explains scheduling against a home-policy limit.

Jewelers Mutual lists alarms and storage in a safe or vault among factors that may qualify for a discount. That does not mean a safe is a requirement to insure a watch; ask the insurer whether a specific security measure changes your own quote. Jewelers Mutual’s pricing guidance lists potential factors.

Standalone insurance or coverage through your home policy?
First ask your current insurer or agent how the watch is covered under your homeowners, renters, or condo policy. Check the applicable per-item and category limits, deductible, covered loss types, and whether coverage applies away from home. If the watch exceeds the relevant limit, ask about scheduling it separately. Progressive’s guide describes scheduling a watch above a home policy’s applicable limit.
A dedicated valuables policy may offer different terms, but product summaries are not a substitute for the policy wording. Chubb says its jewelry coverage, which includes watches, covers most losses worldwide with no deductible. Allstate’s jewelry page describes protection for loss, theft, damage, disappearance, natural disasters, and worldwide travel. These are each provider’s descriptions; do not assume the policies are identical or that every loss is covered. Chubb’s jewelry-coverage summary and Allstate’s jewelry-insurance page set out their respective descriptions.

To make the prices comparable, request quotes for the same watch value and compare the contract terms alongside the premium:

Appraisals and keeping the insured value current
Documentation requirements differ by insurer. Allstate says an appraisal is not required for its watch-insurance offer. Chubb says an invoice or recent appraisal is required for an individual item valued above $100,000; for items below that threshold, its page calls for a detailed description and estimated value. Confirm the selected insurer’s current requirements before applying. Allstate’s watch-insurance page and Chubb’s coverage page describe their documentation rules.
Watch values can fluctuate, so ask how the policy sets and updates the insured amount. Jewelers Mutual says that if an appraisal is more than two years old at renewal, it automatically adjusts coverage limits every two years to help keep up with changing values. That is a feature described for its policy, not a general insurance rule. Ask whether your insurer uses an appraisal, receipt, agreed value, replacement-cost estimate, or automatic limit adjustment. Jewelers Mutual’s guidance describes its approach.
How much does it cost to insure a Rolex?
The same starting estimate—about 1% to 2% of insured value per year—can help you plan for a Rolex, but it does not establish a Rolex-specific rate. The insurer will need the watch’s value and other details to provide a personalized quote; use the same coverage and deductible assumptions when comparing offers.
