OMEGA’s Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer map is a dial feature, not an engraved globe or case. The brand says it creates the view of Earth from above the North Pole by laser-ablating continents and colors onto a grade 5 titanium surface. In the 43 mm titanium version announced in 2023, OMEGA says laser makes the entire black-and-grey dial, including its colors.
How OMEGA makes the Worldtimer’s map
The process OMEGA describes is laser ablation on the dial’s grade 5 titanium surface. It forms a view of Earth from above the North Pole by removing material to create the continents and colors. So “carve the world with a laser” refers to making the dial artwork; it does not mean the watch case or a separate physical globe is engraved.
The central map is domed to suggest Earth’s curvature. Around it, a 24-hour day-and-night indication sits beneath hesalite glass.
The three versions in OMEGA’s 2023 announcement
OMEGA announced three 43 mm models on 16 May 2023: one in titanium and two in stainless steel. The titanium version has a black-and-grey dial and a black ceramic bezel. The two steel versions share a green sun-brushed dial and green ceramic bezel.

OMEGA identifies Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938 and 15 bar (150 m / 500 ft) water resistance for all three models in the announcement. These are manufacturer-stated launch specifications, not independent test findings. The release does not establish the watches’ current catalog status, price, or stock.
What the city ring indicates
The city ring names destinations around the world. In the two steel versions described in the announcement, OMEGA says London is colored red to highlight Universal Time Coordinated (UTC).
