Identify the watches before comparing them
“Fifty Fathoms” names a watch family, not one specification set. The Ocean Commitment II discussed here is the Bathyscaphe Chronographe Flyback, reference 5200 0310 G52A, according to Blancpain’s product page. The other watch in a photo report needs its own reference confirmed from its photographs, captions or article metadata before its details can be compared.
That distinction matters: Blancpain’s current US Bathyscaphe page is for a different watch, reference 5100 1140 O52A. It can illustrate how another Bathyscaphe differs, but it is not evidence of the identity or specifications of the first photographed watch.
Ocean Commitment II: the documented specifications
Blancpain lists the 5200 0310 G52A with a 43.60 mm ceramic case, 15.25 mm thickness, sapphire caseback, and 30 bar water resistance. Its automatic F385 caliber runs at 5 Hz, has 37 jewels and provides a 50-hour power reserve. The listed lug width is 23 mm, and the watch is fitted with a sail-canvas strap. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
The watch’s defining added function is its flyback chronograph. Blancpain describes the mechanism as allowing the wearer to reset and restart the chronograph with one button press, without stopping it first. See the manufacturer’s flyback description.
How it differs from a current Bathyscaphe example
The separate 5100 1140 O52A provides a concrete reference point, not a substitute for identifying the watch in the photo report. The following figures come from Blancpain’s current US product pages; the 5100 price is the page’s displayed US price and may vary with strap fastening.

What the comparison means for a buyer
Choose around case presence and wear
The Ocean Commitment II is larger and thicker than the cited 38 mm Bathyscaphe example, and its ceramic case differs from that watch’s steel case. Those measurements describe the models; whether either wears comfortably depends on the wearer and fit. The 23 mm and 20 mm lug widths also mean their straps are not the same width.

Choose around function and reserve
The 5200 adds a flyback chronograph, while its stated reserve is 50 hours. The 5100 example has a 100-hour reserve and does not have a chronograph function stated on its cited product page. Someone who wants timing capability may value the flyback; someone prioritizing longer reserve between wears may prefer the 5100’s listed figure. Neither preference establishes an overall winner.
Check availability and price by reference
Blancpain currently labels the limited-edition 5200 sold out. The 5100 page displays a US price of $12,500, with a note that price may vary by strap fastening. Because listings and availability can change, confirm the exact reference, configuration and current price with Blancpain or an authorized retailer before making a purchase decision.
