Hodinkee’s October 8, 2026 report describes the Arsène Lippens Artigiano “Sashiko Denim” as a limited edition of 10 watches. The report says its dial is denim with 12 individual hand-stitched hour markers, including cross-hatch stitching at 3, 6, 9, and 12. It also reports a 37.5 mm by 9.9 mm 316L stainless-steel case, a manually wound Sellita SW210-1b movement with a stated 48-hour power reserve, 50-meter water resistance, a solid caseback, and a box-dome anti-reflective crystal. Can you get a denim-dial watch wet?
Do not assume so. The reported 50-meter water-resistance rating does not, by itself, establish that the textile dial is safe to wet or authorize washing it. No model-specific care instructions were found. Keep water away from the dial unless Arsène Lippens supplies explicit guidance for this watch.

How should you clean the dial?
There is no verified maker-approved cleaning method for this dial. Until the maker confirms one, avoid applying water, household detergent, fabric freshener, stain remover, alcohol, solvents, or household polish. Do not scrub or brush the stitching; friction could disturb the fabric or threads.
General clothing advice is not a safe substitute for watch instructions. UNIQLO recommends airing denim and washing garments infrequently; when garment washing is necessary, its guide recommends cold water and a gentle cycle. A sashiko craft guide notes that care depends on the particular cloth and thread and recommends testing the intended method on the exact pairing. That is not permission to test a cleaning method on the watch itself. Sashiko guidance cannot replace model-specific approval.

What should you do about a stain, moisture, or loose stitching?
- Stain: Do not spot-treat, blot with a wet cloth, or apply a cleaning product. Ask Arsène Lippens or a qualified watchmaker for advice before treatment.
- Moisture exposure: Avoid further contact with water and seek professional advice. Do not assume the water-resistance figure means the textile dial can be washed.
- Loose or abraded stitching: Do not pull, trim, brush, or attempt to resew the thread. Have the maker or a qualified watchmaker assess it.

Can you clean the case or crystal?
Keep any external case-and-crystal care separate from the textile dial. Follow the maker’s instructions, and do not let a cleaning cloth, liquid, or polish contact the denim or stitching. No cloth or product has been established as safe for this specific dial.
