To change a Google Pixel Watch band, turn the watch face down, press the small release button on the back, and slide the band across the button and away from the case. To install a replacement, align its connector, press the release button with the band, and slide it into place until it locks. No app or special tool is needed for ordinary bands.
Before starting, confirm that the replacement matches your watch’s case size. The original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 use the 41mm format. Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4 are available in both 41mm and 45mm versions.

Check compatibility before changing the band
Pixel Watch bands use Google’s proprietary connector, so they are not universal watch straps. A standard 20mm band will not fit without a compatible adapter, and adapter quality varies.
Choose the case size first, then choose the band length for your wrist:

Do not confuse a longer wrist band with a 45mm watch band. Band length and case-size compatibility are separate. Check the individual Google Store compatibility listing before buying, particularly for third-party products or older Pixel Watch models.
What you need
- The replacement band.
- A clean, soft surface such as a towel, to protect the watch if it slips.
- The supplied sizing tool only if you are adjusting a metal link band.
Remove the watch from your wrist before changing the band. Ordinary Active, Active Sport, Woven, stretch, leather, mesh, and similar bands normally require no tool.
How to remove a Google Pixel Watch band
- Place the watch face down so the rear of the case is facing up.
- Locate the small band-release button beside the band connector.
- Press and hold the release button.
- While holding the button, slide the band across the button and away from the watch.
- Repeat the process for the other half of the band.
The band slides across the release button; it does not pull straight upward like a conventional spring-bar strap. Avoid twisting the band or levering against the case.

How to attach a replacement band
- Match the replacement connector to the correct side of the watch.
- Press the band against the release button.
- Slide the connector into the watch’s band slot.
- Release the button once the connector is fully seated.
- Repeat on the opposite side.

Check that the band is locked
Before wearing the watch:
- Inspect both connector ends and confirm that neither sits above or outside its slot.
- Make sure both sides are fully seated.
- Gently pull each band section away from the case without pressing the release button.
If either side slides out, remove the band and reinstall it. Do not wear the watch with a connector that does not stay locked. This gentle pull is a practical safety check, not a formal Google pull-test standard.
How to fit different Pixel Watch bands
Active and Active Sport bands
Slide the band through the outer loop, push the metal peg through the selected hole, and tuck the remaining end into the keeper. Choose the small or large version that covers your wrist measurement. Google lists these Active Band ranges:

For exercise, wear the watch snugly so the sensors maintain skin contact. Google recommends positioning it about two to three finger widths above the wrist bone during exercise. Loosen or lower it afterward for comfort.
Woven, stretch, leather, and mesh bands
The connector attaches to the watch in the same way, but the wrist adjustment differs:

- Gradient Stretch: has no clasp; size it carefully, and consider sizing down if you need a more secure fit.
- Metal Mesh: uses a magnetic clasp.
- Leather: uses a buckle or clasp depending on the model.
Always check the band’s own care and water guidance. Google lists Active and Active Sport as sweat- and water-resistant, while Metal Mesh and Metal Slim are listed as not sweat- or water-resistant. Changing the band does not change the water-resistance rating of the watch case.

Metal Links Band
- Place the band in the sizing tool.
- Press the tool’s pins into the matching holes.
- Pull down to remove the extra links.
- Remove only links with imprinted holes.
- To add links, snap them into place while aligning the pins with the link holes.
Google lists the Metal Links Band for the original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2, as well as Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4 in both sizes. Confirm the listing for your model before ordering.

Metal Slim Band
The Metal Slim Band is currently listed for Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3 41mm, and Pixel Watch 4 41mm—not 45mm models. Its removable links are marked with etched dashes.
- Lay the band flat.
- For removal, use the pin side of the sizing tool to push out the spring pin.
- Gently twist the link away.
- For adding links, insert one pin and use the flat side of the tool to push the other pin into place.
- Reattach the clasp after achieving the desired length.
Troubleshooting
The old band will not come off
- Turn the watch over so the rear release button is visible.
- Make sure the button is fully depressed.
- Slide the band across the button rather than pulling it straight away.
- While holding the button, move the band slightly toward the slot, then slide it out again.
- Remove visible debris with a dry, soft cloth.
Do not use a knife, screwdriver, lubricant, or excessive force. If the button or connector appears bent, stuck, or damaged, stop and contact Google support or an authorized repair provider.
The replacement band will not click into place
Check these causes:
- The band is for the wrong case size.
- The connector is upside down or misaligned.
- The release button is being held down while you try to seat the band.
- Debris is blocking the slot.
- A third-party connector is out of tolerance.
- The watch slot or connector is damaged.
Reinstall the connector carefully and perform the gentle tug check. If it still will not lock, do not wear the watch. Google warns that third-party bands may not fit properly and that materials may matter for people with skin sensitivities.

- Exercise or water exposure: Active or Active Sport. Active Sport’s perforations improve airflow, and both are listed as sweat- and water-resistant.
- Everyday comfort: Woven, stretch, or an Active-style band, provided the fit is secure.
- Formal wear: Metal Mesh, Metal Links, leather, or Metal Slim.
- Fine adjustment: Metal Mesh’s magnetic clasp or an adjustable Woven band.
- Bracelet appearance: Metal Links or Metal Slim, after confirming exact size compatibility.
For current model-by-model compatibility, use Google’s Pixel Watch band catalog. Compatibility varies by band: for example, the current listing does not identify Metal Slim for 45mm watches, and its Metal Mesh listing does not include the original Pixel Watch.
