Firmware R930XXU1BXL2 includes a general stability improvement and the October 1, 2024 security patch.
It is a maintenance update rather than a major feature release. The date and build apply to the cited SM-R930 firmware history—not automatically to every Galaxy Watch6, Watch6 Classic, country, or LTE carrier variant.

What the first 2025 Galaxy Watch6 update includes
Samsung’s official firmware page for model SM-R930 describes the January release as a stability improvement. It does not list new watch faces, health features, a redesigned interface, or a major Wear OS upgrade.

- Rotating Bezel Design: Classic rotating bezel enables precise control and smooth navigation.
Samsung’s official changelog does not establish improvements to battery life, performance, health tracking, or connectivity, so those should not be presented as benefits of this particular build.
Samsung’s SM-R930 update history lists this release after the model’s November 26, 2024 update, making it the first 2025 entry shown for that specific model history.
Was it the first 2025 update for every Galaxy Watch6?
No. January 14 is best described as the first listed 2025 release for the cited SM-R930 variant. It is not proof that every Galaxy Watch6 owner worldwide received the same firmware on the same day.

The Watch6 family includes:
- Bluetooth and LTE editions
- 40mm and 44mm sizes
- Different country and regional variants
- Carrier-branded LTE models
- The separate Galaxy Watch6 Classic product line
These versions use different model numbers and can have separate firmware packages. LTE updates may also depend on carrier approval. Samsung states that update content and timing can vary by model, country, and service provider.
To identify your exact watch, open Settings → About watch on the watch and check the model number. You can also view watch information through the Galaxy Wearable app. Do not assume that firmware beginning with R930 applies to an SM-R935, SM-R940, SM-R945, or a Watch6 Classic model.
How to check for and install the update
Using the connected phone
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Select your Galaxy Watch6.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Choose Download and install if an update is offered.
- Keep the watch close to the phone and follow the instructions until installation finishes.
Samsung documents the phone-based update route in its Galaxy Watch support information.

Before installation
- Charge the watch sufficiently; 30–50% or more is a sensible practical minimum.
- Use a reliable Wi-Fi connection or keep the watch connected to the phone.
- Keep the watch near the phone during a phone-initiated update.
- Do not power off the watch while the update is installing.
- Expect the watch to restart.
Afterward, verify the installed software under Settings → About watch → Software information.
Why the update may not appear
Not seeing R930XXU1BXL2 does not necessarily mean that the watch is unsupported. Common explanations include:
Rank #4
- Rotating Bezel Design: Classic rotating bezel enables precise control and smooth navigation.
- The firmware has not reached your country or carrier.
- Your watch is an LTE model with a different firmware history.
- You are checking a firmware page for another model number.
- The watch is already running a newer build.
- Samsung is staging or temporarily pausing the rollout.
- The Galaxy Wearable app or its watch plug-in needs an update.
- The watch lacks sufficient battery or storage for the installation.
- The update appears on the watch but has not yet appeared in the phone app, or vice versa.
If an update is missing, use this sequence:
- Confirm the exact model number on the watch.
- Restart both the watch and phone.
- Update Galaxy Wearable and the watch plug-in through the phone’s app store.
- Check for updates from both Galaxy Wearable and the watch’s Settings app.
- Try a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Check the Samsung firmware page for your region, model, or carrier.
Avoid manually flashing firmware unless you understand the risks. Installing an incompatible package can create software problems and may affect warranty or service options. Google likewise notes that Wear OS update procedures vary by manufacturer, device, and software version; Samsung’s device-specific instructions should take priority.

The January build was a small maintenance release, not the major platform upgrade that arrived later for some Watch6 variants.
For example, Samsung’s SM-R935F history lists later releases including:
Best Value
- Smart watch with Wear OS by Samsung, Made of aluminum in Gold color Frame (Cream Band).
- Offers Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and 5GHz, GPS and NFC. Ultra-durable sapphire crystal glass makes for a resilient and sturdy watch display, while IP68 and 5ATM ratings mean your watch is tough enough to stay with you on your adventures.
- Understand your nights to make the most of your days; wear your Galaxy Watch6 to bed and monitor your nightly sleep stage, sleep score and sleep consistency to improve your sleep.
- Sync your Galaxy Watch with your Galaxy smartphone, Tab, and Buds for a completely connected experience.
- May 7, 2025: build R935FXXU1BYD1, with stability and security improvements and a March 1, 2025 security patch.
- September 1, 2025: build R935FXXS1BYH1, with an August 1, 2025 security patch.
- December 4, 2025: build R935FXXU1CYK2, identified as a One UI 8 Watch upgrade using the AndroidWear 6.0/Wear OS 6 branch and an October 1, 2025 security patch.
Those dates belong to the SM-R935F firmware history and should not be generalized to every Watch6 model. They do, however, show the difference between a routine stability update and a later operating-system upgrade.
The January 2025 release should therefore not be confused with One UI 8 Watch, Wear OS 6, Galaxy AI features, or software features introduced on newer Galaxy Watch models. Those are separate releases and may have different compatibility and rollout conditions.
What Galaxy Watch6 owners should expect
If your watch matches the SM-R930 history, R930XXU1BXL2 is worth installing as Samsung’s current listed maintenance release for that point in the model’s update timeline. The practical expectation is improved general stability and the recorded security maintenance—not a visible redesign or a new health platform.

A different rollout schedule is normal and does not by itself indicate that the watch has lost support.
Samsung’s official firmware records show continued updates for at least some Watch6 variants later in 2025, so the January release should be understood as the first listed 2025 update for a particular model history, not as a final support milestone.
