The strongest way to reduce the risk of buying a counterfeit TUDOR is to buy from an Official TUDOR Retailer and verify the seller through TUDOR’s official locator. TUDOR says genuine watches are sold exclusively through those retailers and that it cannot ensure the authenticity of watches sold online. A serial number, guarantee card, box, or convincing appearance is not conclusive proof on its own.
Start with the seller, not the watch
TUDOR’s official Terms of Use state: “To ensure authenticity, genuine TUDOR products are sold exclusively through Official TUDOR Retailers.” TUDOR also says it does not sell watches directly from its website and cannot ensure the authenticity of watches sold online. - Search for the seller and confirm the exact store location or online channel you intend to use. A seller’s own claim that it is authorized is not a substitute for appearing in TUDOR’s listing.

What the paperwork can—and cannot—establish
Ask for the original guarantee card and purchase documentation, especially when considering a pre-owned watch. TUDOR says watches sold since 2020 carry a five-year international guarantee, subject to conditions: the watch must have been sold by an Official TUDOR Retailer, the retailer must have completed the guarantee card in full at purchase, and the card must be presented with the watch. A complete card and purchase record can support the watch’s history and may matter for guarantee eligibility, but paperwork alone does not prove that the watch is genuine. Missing or incomplete documents are a reason to ask more questions, not a do-it-yourself verdict on authenticity.
Ask about service, replacement parts, and modifications
For a pre-owned watch, ask the seller to describe its service history and disclose replacement parts, polishing, customization, or work by anyone outside TUDOR’s official network. TUDOR says substitution or addition of non-TUDOR components or accessories, as well as work by third parties, can invalidate its guarantee. That does not establish that every modified watch is counterfeit; it does affect the watch’s guarantee status and history.

TUDOR’s Service Card is issued after a complete service by an Official TUDOR Retailer or Service Centre. The card confirms that the service followed TUDOR procedures and carries an international two-year service guarantee. TUDOR says each watch’s serial number is unique and allows its watchmakers to identify the timepiece. Its published guidance does not provide a public serial-number lookup or say that a matching number is sufficient proof of authenticity. A number supplied by a seller—or one that appears on a watch and its documents—should therefore not be treated as conclusive.

If the seller, documents, or watch leave you uncertain, contact an Official TUDOR or Rolex Service Centre and ask whether it can examine that specific watch before purchase. TUDOR describes examination of the case, bracelet, and movement by a trained watchmaker in its official service network, who can identify a watch using its serial number.
