Size labels alone do not tell you how a watch will look on your wrist: Cartier’s published dimensions differ across references, and fit also depends on how the bracelet drapes and on your own preference.
Compare dimensions on the exact reference
Use the measurements on the product page for the reference you are considering. Cartier’s listings present dimensions in the order shown below; do not reorder them or assume every watch labeled small, medium or large has the same measurements.

Dimensions are a useful first screen, but they do not fully predict how a Panthère will appear: wrist shape, bracelet drape and personal taste all matter. If you are between sizes, try the exact reference where possible rather than relying on a size label or a universal wrist-circumference cutoff.

Choose the metal for the look you want
The cited references show three distinct choices: steel, yellow gold, and a two-tone combination of yellow gold and steel. Cartier lists other Panthère configurations, including rose gold and diamond-set models, but options can vary by reference and market; check the current listing for the exact model rather than assuming every size is offered in every metal.
Metal is a preference decision, not an objectively better-or-more-durable ranking. The available evidence does not establish a reliable comparison of scratch resistance, resale value or long-term ownership cost by metal.

Understand the Panthère’s bracelet design
Cartier says the Panthère design dates to the 1980s and takes its name from the bracelet of the same name. The Maison describes the bracelet as having an “ultra-flexible structure” that echoes the movements of its emblematic animal. That is Cartier’s description of its design, not an independent technical assessment. The bracelet’s jewelry-like character is one reason case dimensions alone cannot settle how a watch will sit on your wrist.
Set bracelet fit with Cartier’s product-page flow
- Measure your wrist in millimeters. On the exact Panthère product page, find Cartier’s “Fit your bracelet” control.
- Select the feel you prefer. Choose “Loose” or “Exact size,” Cartier’s own interface labels rather than universal fit standards.
- Confirm link handling for that reference. Cartier says removed links are supplied with the watch. If you need additional links, contact Cartier.

Cartier’s Bracelet Size Guide recommends measuring the thickest part of the wrist, usually the wrist joint, and adding 1 cm for a loose fit. The guide also cautions that sizing recommendations vary by collection and model. Treat that measurement as general bracelet advice, not a guaranteed Panthère fit formula: use the Panthère product-page fit flow or arrange an in-person fitting for the watch itself.
