Choose a titanium watch by checking the grade used in each component, the finish and coating on each visible surface, and the dimensions that determine how it sits on your wrist. Treat weight figures as meaningful only when the maker specifies what is included. “Titanium” alone does not tell you whether the whole watch uses one grade or how it will wear.
Check the titanium grade part by part
A watch described as titanium may use different grades in its case, bracelet, caseback, clasp, dial base, or other components. Look for a parts list rather than relying on the material name in the product title.

For example, San Martin specifies Grade 5 titanium for the SN0111-T case and bracelet, but Grade 2 for its caseback and clasp. MING describes the 17.03 as machined entirely in Grade 2 titanium, and identifies Grade 2 titanium for the case, dial, and buckle of the 37.02 Ghost. These are maker specifications for particular models, not evidence that one grade is universally preferable. MING 17.03 GMT Blue specifications; San Martin SN0111-T specifications; MING 37.02 Ghost specifications.
MING says its 37.02 uses Grade 2 partly for the design possibilities of brushing, and contrasts it with Grade 5 alloy used in much modern watchmaking. That is the maker’s explanation of its design choice; the cited specifications do not independently establish differences in scratch resistance, hardness, comfort, or durability.

Compare finish and coatings separately from grade
Grade describes the material specification; finish describes the surface treatment. Ask whether the case, bracelet, bezel, caseback, and clasp are brushed, polished, blasted, or coated. A single watch can combine several treatments.
MING describes the Grade 2 37.02 Ghost as brushed in contrasting directions. Its Grade 5 20.01 Series 2 combines polished and brushed case areas with a DLC-coated caseband. These examples show why “Grade 2” or “Grade 5” does not tell you what the watch will look like. The product pages do not establish a universal finish ranking or independent evidence about how long a coating will last. 37.02 Ghost details; 20.01 Series 2 details.

Use weight only when the configuration is clear
A published weight is useful for comparison only if you know what was weighed. Check whether it includes the bracelet or strap, or refers only to the watch head; the same model can feel different depending on its configuration.

Assess fit with more than case diameter
Case diameter is a starting point, not a fit guarantee. Lug-to-lug length helps indicate how far the watch spans across the wrist; thickness affects how much it rises from the wrist. If you are considering a bracelet, check the maker’s wrist-circumference range and the bracelet’s construction as well. Measurements screen options, but they cannot account for every wrist shape or personal preference.
The MING 17.03 GMT Blue is listed at 38 mm in diameter, 43.9 mm lug-to-lug, and 20 mm lug width; its bracelet is specified for 140–232 mm wrist circumference. San Martin lists the SN0111-T at 40 mm diameter, 47.5 mm lug-to-lug, and 13.2 mm thick. MING lists the 37.02 Ghost at 38 × 11 mm and describes it as wearable across a large range of wrist sizes, without giving a numeric range on the cited page. The 20.01 Series 2 is listed at 41.5 mm diameter and 14.2 mm thick. These are model-specific maker figures, not a guarantee that a watch will suit your wrist. 17.03 GMT Blue specifications; SN0111-T specifications; 37.02 Ghost specifications; 20.01 Series 2 specifications.

Compare candidates on the same checklist
Use the same questions for each watch so that one detailed listing does not seem more suitable simply because it provides more information.
- Components: What grade is specified for the case, bracelet, caseback, clasp, and any other named parts?
- Surface: Which parts are brushed, polished, blasted, or coated?
- Dimensions: What are the case diameter, lug-to-lug length, thickness, and lug width?
- Weight: What configuration does the number describe?
- Bracelet: Is a wrist-circumference range stated, and what construction is specified?
- Evidence: Is each detail a maker specification, a subjective description, or an independent measurement?
The examples below are product specifications from the makers, not independent tests or a ranking. “Not stated” means the cited product page does not provide a comparable figure or description.

Try it on when the measurements leave doubt
Use specifications to narrow a shortlist, then try the watch on where possible. Pay attention to whether the lugs sit comfortably, whether the case height works for your daily use, and whether the bracelet adjusts to your wrist. If a listing omits a grade, weight basis, or bracelet range that matters to you, ask the maker rather than treating an unspecified detail as confirmed.
